Half Day Martinborough Winery Tour from Wellington

105 reviews
An hour or so north of Wellington, Martinborough is fast making a name for itself as one of the Southern Hemisphere’s leading wine regions. Each weekend, Wellingtonians make the trek over the Remutakas to escape to this European-style wine village. This small group tour is a convenient way to visit Martinborough. There’s no need to stress about driving on country backroads, and no need to plan the day’s itinerary - leaving you to focus on the wine and the iconic scenery.

I attended one of the yoga day spas on a weekend in December with a couple of friends. It was perfect. It was a day of relaxation, mindfulness and having the space the focus on myself and my well-being. Cathy allowed everyone to go at their own pace and their own skill level. She filled the spaces of silence with her vast knowledge of the body and mind and it's connection, and then left some of the silence beautifully empty for your mind to sit in stillness. Cathy managed to achieve the perfect balance. The day was made even better by the delicious food at lunchtime, not too heavy so as to make you feel weighed down going back to the mat, and not too light so as to leave you wanting. And the berry smoothie was to die for! My favourite part of it all...the cats! Two beautiful cats wander the studio curiously as you take you poses, not put off by any downward dogs. Tom in particular loves a cuddle and came and sat on my belly while I was in a lying pose...this is my idea of heaven! Every yoga should be like this! Thank you Cathy for such a wonderful experience, I left feeling like I was floating on a cloud.

Near the end of a narrow-ish street in Days Bay, and up a winding gravel path, you will find a little piece of paradise in Pause Yoga studio. The wooden studio is nestled in a perfect spot high on the hill, with large floor to ceiling windows providing yogis with a beautiful view through the tree tops. It's the perfect setting to recharge and relax. I can literally feel the tension start to drain away the moment I step into the studio, and that's even before we get down to practice on the mat. The owner, Cathy, is a walking testament to the benefits of yoga, and is a constant source of motivation. I also like the fact that she doesn't "om". This place is a real joy to visit and, even if you live in Wellington Central, I recommend you make the effort to get around to Days Bay and experience this studio.

It is a beautiful setting and a lovely space to do yoga in - or anything else. It is a place to truly ‘be’. I had an exceptional yoga session, something I haven’t experienced for over 20 years. Physically enjoyable, mentally blissful and spiritually enlightening. It’s the ‘real McCoy’ where you have the space to connect mind, body and spirit. Arohanui, Jenny

You couldn't imagine a better location or vibe than Pause, or a better instructor than Cathy. What a treat!
