Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastic views all the way on this walk. Great for dog walking as the path all the way along the top of the hill is off-leash with lots of interesting smells to sniff and tracks to venture down.
On a calm day this is our go-to walking area with the only con being the road access to the area. Extremely narrow steep off camber lanes with tight corners, more for local drivers used to that kind of thing than tourists. Definitely not for nervous drivers!

We used to live on Tinakori road.
It is a really nice walk with great views of Wellington!
Unfortunately some pathways are unworkable because of the strong winds.

We spend a LOT of time walking at Zealandia and Otari-Wilton's Bush but Tinakori Hill is also in our hood so we finally had a chance to explore it properly.
We started from Orangi Kaupapa Rd and walked through towards Wadestown and back around. There seem to be plenty of tracks to choose from. It's a bit of a wasteland in some places and some nice bush in others. The views of the city are good in some spots too. It's a bit hilly but not too taxing and you can walk to town if you chose to.
We will probably walk here again but I feel more attracted to the lush bush walks of Otari and Zealandia.......

You get fantastic views of Wellington from this park which is reached of Orangi Kaupapa Road in Northland. We take all our overseas visitors there and they love it too.

This is a great way to see Wellington, the harbor and all the surrounding areas. Hike up from the Botanic Gardens and wander the different paths along the ridge and to the various viewpoints.

Great walking tracks through these hills from Glenmore Street up and over to Wadestown, Northland and Wilton. Wonderful views and lots of places to stop for a tea break.

Tinakori Hill is a great place. It is certainly very steep, but the worst part was actually walking up St Mary Street to get to the start of the tracks leading up the hill. The running tracks criss-cross up the hill, so they are actually quite level. Defying common sense, the locals really do run up and down the hill, so expect to see some traffic on the paths. The pathways are all quite wide, so while the hill is steep, you needn’t worry about slipping or falling.
The views of Wellington are staggering, from several locations along the track. Certainly worth the effort. An excellent spot within walking distance from the centre of Wellington.

The hill has a number of scenic tracks, which a great for natural hikers and mountain/hill runners.

Most are not too steep, so also suitable for families with small children.

The start of most tracks have plenty of parking available as well.
