I love Lyall Bay in all kinds of weather. Its lovely to stroll on a sunny day, but equally fabulous when the wind whips up the surf as it did when we were there. Rugged and beautiful.
Great for kids, and dogs.

Had family visiting Wellington so decided to visit this cafe as recently opened in Lyall Bay - I had realisedbit opened late in the morning so not a good choice for breakfast early in the day - pays to check opening hours.

We found the Spruce Goose spacious, organised and efficient. It was early evening and we were allowed to choose where we wanted, next to an open window with views across the bay and airport runway. In spite of the latter - aircraft noise was minimal....More
