We found the Spruce Goose spacious, organised and efficient. It was early evening and we were allowed to choose where we wanted, next to an open window with views across the bay and airport runway. In spite of the latter - aircraft noise was minimal....More
Headed for a visit early evening during the week. Caught the sunshine and had a lovely walk along the beach. Enjoyed watching the world go by and watching all the planes take off and land. Worth wandering along to see the 'middle of middle earth'...More
Close to the airport, Lyall Bay has cafes and kids playgrounds and you can watch planes takeoff and land at Wellington airport from the beach. Close to the airport retail precinct as well for shopping, and Bunnings nearby.
We stayed in the Lyall Bay area and were pleasantly surprised that there is a nice walk along the bay. It is very scenic and even though we did not see any surfers on the days we took our walks we did see kite surfers.
Lyall Bay is a sandy beach and close to Wellington airport and the CBD.
It has smooth surface, small to medium surf and does not drop off which is why it is popular with surfers and body borders learning to surf or body board. Surf...More
