We met our tour guide for a Zest Food Tour here. While we waited her arrival we perused the offerings, picked up a map and enjoyed a pleasant chat with the staff, who were extremely helpful and accommodating.

The service was good once you got to speak to someone but I felt it was understaffed for the size of the city.

We went in to try and find out where the Treaty of Waitangi and the Treaty of Independence was to seen. The lady we spoke to had no idea - first she said Te Papa and then the Wellington Museum. We knew that to be incorrect and on pushing she finally came up with the National Library. Was not helpful on places to walk on a windy day either. The exhibition at the National Library is fantastic holding NZ"s founding documents - how can a member of staff at the isite have no idea about them! Most isites in small towns are wonderful. This one needs to up its game!

We will be on the Celebrity cruise ship docking in Wellington on Feb 10/16, and we're interested in taking the Weta Cave tour which we understand departs from i-Site. Could you please give us an idea how long it would take us to get from the port to i-Site (being totally unfamiliar with Wellington)? Is it within walking distance or a reasonable taxi ride? Thanks so much for your help!
What a wonderful experience to be looking forward.
Great that you're planning in advance to be able to make the most of your time in Wellington, and Weta Workshop Tour really is a highlight.
A cruise shuttle service operates between the port and Wellington i-SITE on demand and the journey time is 15 minutes. The cost is $10 per person return. Alternatively the taxi fare is approximately $18 one way and to walk you should allow 45 minutes to be comfortable. It's a pleasant flat walk along the waterfront.
I hope this assists and all the best with your planning as this is often as enjoyable as the holiday.
