Cruise with Interislander from Wellington to Picton across the Cook Strait and through the stunning Marlborough Sounds in just over three hours on the three largest ferries in New Zealand. Interislander is one of The Great Journeys of New Zealand and our three ships each feature several outdoor viewing decks that allow you to soak up the gorgeous New Zealand scenery as it floats by. They also have plenty of lounges, cafes and bars to choose from, plenty to keep the kids entertained - including children's play areas - and plenty for mum and dad too. Cars, vans, caravans, campervans, motorhomes, motorcycles and coaches - all vehicles are welcome, just drive on, drive off. And for the rental car providers, just drop off your car at the rental depots within our terminals then pick up another at the other end - easy! Interislander operates a FREE shuttle bus. Departing 50 minutes before each sailing from Platform 9 at the Wellington Railway Station.

Doing the crossing from either Picton or Wellington is such a treat. The ships are all so well kitted out, offer great food and drink, entertainment for kiddies and the scenery is spectacular. You pay a lot more for some flights and boat trips in...More

Having been to NZ on many occasions and flown to Christchurch from Auckland we decided to take the Interislander Ferry. The net effect of this was to question ourselves as to why we had not done this earlier. Check in staff were very polite and...More

Took the ferry in January from Wellington to Picton and then back to Wellington in July. The boat is super clean and well maintained. Looks new. There are several food and beverage outlets. The staff is nice, helpful and polite. On a beautiful day, the...More

Plenty of seating. Left and arrived on time. Well organized. Only reasons it was not perfect were (1) Price of food and drink onboard and (2) The toilets could have been kept a little cleaner. It’s still the best way to cross the Strait. 😀🇳🇿

Good trip with large outdoor areas to sit if you dont want to stay inside. Small cinema on board and well stocked shop and cafe. Great way to travel between islands and if you are lucky will see dolphins and other wildlife.

I use this service twice a week & am getting really sick & tired of the plus lounge being so cold. Why am I paying $100 dollars a week to be wrapped in a blanket because it's so cold!! Come on interislander, sort it.

We travelled across on the 8.30am sailing, beautiful calm day with no wind and 9 degrees outside. If you are thinking about paying to use the Premier Kaitaki Lounge forget it. At my seat it was 12 degrees. The regular users say they have complained...More

A long 3 hour crossing from picton to Wellington, the journey did feel like it took forever and the sea was quite rough. The onboard restaurant and bar were nothing to rave about, simple food for an expensive price tag.
