Morning trip
Booked on 8.45am ferry. Got to queue and received email about 90 minute delay. No reason given. Ended up getting on the ferry at 11am. Seemed very disorganised with the loading compared to last trip 3 years ago. Had fish and chips at Eatery. Nice chips but fish was hard and overcooked.

Smooth crossing
Nov 2021
I needn't have prepared for the crossing with ginger tablets. The crossing was the smoothest i've ever experienced. Great staff and calm announcements. Wi-fi was a bit flaky at times.

Despite the sailing being delayed by nearly an hour it was a great sailing and staff were super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend sailing with them

Dilapidated Tub
The boat was delayed 3-hours due to mechanical fault. Couldn’t get to use complimentary passes to Plus Lounge on with the trip across out the trip back. NMC membership supposed to be priority boarding- our vehicles were last on board. Chairs are old and uncomfortable. Food stodgy and overpriced. Tables not cleaned y staff. Toilets filthy. Some staff are friendly but most paid to do a job. Nautical Miles Club definitely not worth it.

Please don't take the ferry - the sailings are a shambles..complete lottery
Nov 2021
Our trip to and from Picton was cancelled several times and we were left to fend for ourselves. We were booked on the 8.15am from Wellington but had to sit around until ferry finally left at 2pm. Our trip back to Wellington was also cancelled and rescheduled several times. We had booked to travel on the 10am sailing but finally left Picton at 10pm arriving into wellington at 1.30am with another 2hours to get home at 3am!
The staff on the ferry were great but the organisation beyond that was something out of Faulty Towers, There doesn't appear to be a back up plan if something goes wrong and we only had cancellations but no information as to what has happened.
This is an expensive way to travel and a partial refund should be made for the added expense and stress this lack of service has caused. This is not a one off - it's being happening more often with little consideration for passengers.

Good old girl!
We did a return trip on the Kaitaki. One way the sea was calm and beautiful, the other not so much. Overall we found the ferry and its staff great in both directions.

Nice facilities and decent food at the cafe. Chairs are pretty standard but there was always somewhere to sit, even in Level 2.

One thing that I’d like to see is some seating (if possible) on Deck 7 or some other outside areas. On our return leg, Deck 10 was closed which meant all those feeling sick were directed to Deck 7 which is tiny, with no seating and also an area for those smoking. I spent a good part of the trip with two sick kids and would have really appreciated somewhere to sit or some shelter.

Load on and off times were super slow coming from Pic > Wel but from Wel > Pic they were fine.

Overall a good ferry with great staff.

Club Lounge Heaven
Just had to say what a fabulous experience the Club Lounge was on the Kaitaki. Afternoon sailing. Lunch was served shortly after boarding. Beautifully cooked food. Fresh and plentiful. Curry both meat and vegetarian. Chicken drumsticks. Mussels. Rice which was superb. Salads. All of the very best quality. Afternoon tea was served around an hour and a half later. Cakes galore again all beautifully prepared. Fresh coffee and tea and of course an abundance of cold drinks both alcoholic and non. The 2 waiters were excellent. Charming polite and extremely well prepared to offer the very best service. The chairs were supremely comfortable. And well spaced. The ambiance was quiet and peaceful. My only gripe would be having to look out of the windows at the smokers deck directly outside. Such a shame to see that. Can you not put the deck somewhere else or just ban smoking on board? Surely they can do without a fag for 3 hours. They do on planes. Anyway the Club Lounge us a fabulous place to relax and enjoy. We will be back. And of course all the food drink etc is included in the club lounge ticket price. It’s worth every cent.

Good Service
Oct 2021
The staff were polite and helpful and the viewing deck on Level 10 was a wonderful place to observe the scenery. I must admit, I spent a great deal of time up there.
