Very good experience travelling the old way. Just seat and relax. The trip itself pass threw spectacular landscapes that worth the journey. I tink that if the gastronomic offer improves a bit, could be even a better experience. Also , i reckon that improving the souvenir offer would give a plus to the northern-explorer concept.

Kia Ora TherealAskapa, Thank you for your review of your recent Northern Explorer Train journey – it’s much appreciated! We are so pleased to hear you had a wonderful time on your trip – train travel is a great way to travel the country while being able to sit back and relax. Thank you for your feedback regarding the food and souvenirs – I will pass this onto the team. You can purchase souvenirs on our website too. Our main constraint with these is we do have a very limited amount of space on the train to store items, but this is something we are looking into for the future. We very much look forward to welcoming you on board again one day soon. Best Wishes, Kirsten | The Great Journeys of New Zealand

We were a group of 50 that travelled from Te Kuiti to Palmerston North. What a great trip! The staff were friendly and helpful, the carriages were clean and comfortable and on top of that awesome scenery. Just the best!

First trip on a train and was absolutely outstanding. What a way to travel and see the countryside. Exceptionally comfortable and time flew by. Staff were great and very obliging. Everything went smoothly and like clockwork which was great. Highly recommended as a way to travel if you want to see the countryside in a calm and hassle free way. Very very happy. Thanks Kiwirail for a great trip.

Morning Train ride from Palmy to Wellington. I am a frequent train rider as I travel to and from Wellington to worked. This morning my train ride was really unpleasant as it was really cold and because of Covid I couldn’t get my normal coffee. I love trains and normally this one is nice and toasty during the mornings especially during winters! Thank you - Doug

Kia Ora, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I am sorry to hear the train was cold for your travel. Unfortunately, we do have to follow recommendations from Ministry of Health and Transport during Covid alert level changes in regards to servicing food and beverages. We do hope you have a better train journey with us next time! Best Wishes, Karen | The Great Journeys of New Zealand

We booked well ahead and unfortunately we hit the weekend where a weather bomb hit the north island. It rained quite heavily the whole way so we didn't see very much until the last couple of hours. However, we still enjoyed it very much. The service was excellent (do wish though that Scenic Plus was open). The staff were friendly and were visible and there to help throughout the trip. We played cards, relaxed, had a couple of gins and enjoyed the food for lunch. The commentary is clear and very interesting. We are glad we went even though we didn't see much scenery.
