Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Plimmer’s House is up to the top of the steps behind his statue. It looks tiny compared to the surrounding new buildings and it was MOVED to make way for them to be built. Now a restaurant but not reviewed as that. Worth a detour - there’s so little of old Wellington left.

John Plimmer was an entrepreneur in New Zealand who has been called the "Father of Wellington". His statue in Wellington is unique and impressive. It is located near the entrance to the lower cable car station. The best part of this statue is the portion of the dog who appears to be in mid air off the ground. Certainly worth a photo stop.

John Plimmer was an early settler of Wellington, he played a significant role in the development of the region. To honour his achievements a life-size bronze sculpture of him and his attentive companion, 'Fritz' the dog can be found at the bottom of Plimmer Steps just off Lambton Quay. Seek it out if you are down this end of town.

Wonderful, quirky statue of a man with his dog. John Plimmer is known as the "father of Wellington" and hence why he has been immortalized in bronze. He lived at the top of the steps and was frequently seen walking towards Lambton Quay with his little dog. What a lovely piece of history.

John Plimmer was influential in developing Wellington. It is fitting that he is portrayed walking with purpose accompanied by his dog. It creates a warm and welcoming statue that should bring a sense of happiness.
