We did not book any tours, but we will next time. We just visited Weta cave, which was beautiful and inspiring. We saw a 30 min movie, and walked around the store and mini museum. All free of charge.More

This was a great visit to see how special effects are created for some of the blockbuster movies and TV shows. It is a bit pricey however for a relatively short visit. The young guide that we had was very knowledgeable and made the visit...More
It was our third visit. Even if you're not a LOTR fan, this place offers great perspectives on contemporary movie-making. Some of the experience may be a bit intense for younger visitors. For LOTR types, it's mandatory fun!More

If you remember the original Thunderbirds as a child you will love going to Weta workshop. Oh, and you will love seeing the Lord of the Rings and other Weta workshop creations. Warren (the "chemist") was quite amusing too.

The pick up is on the footpath a little way along from the information centre - the I site. It is a tour bus pick up point and other tours also pick and set down from there. You can see the I site building from the bus... More
