Jersey Boys a great show!
May 2021
I went and saw The Jersey Boys last night and it was fantastic! The production was first rate and the acting/ singing was top notch! Really enjoyable experience. I loved the old Opera House. I found my seat to be comfortable.

Amazing venue
May 2021 • Couples
Have seen a number of shows at the Opera House and I'm a big fan of it.

The acoustics are excellent and the view is always great no matter where you sit.

Would highly recommend seeing the ballet whenever it comes on as the shows are out of this world.

Jersey Boys.(No cardigans required )
May 2021 • Couples
Really excited to see the production of Jersey Boys.
Great staff and collecting prebooked tickets easy.
The upstairs foyer was where the issues start. Hopelessly inadequate toilet facilities saw a lengthy queue of women mixing with people trying to get a refreshment blocking access for patrons coming up the stairs.
Upstairs seats hard with little foot room.
Poorly air conditioned
BUT we loved the show...

Uncomfortable evening at the Opera House
Apr 2021
We went to Don Giovanni at the Wellington Opera House last Saturday evening. The production was great - the seats weren't.
We left at half time, unable to face any more time sitting in the upstairs section. It was very hot and the seats were hard and barely big enough for your average sized adult to sit comfortably in.
For such a gorgeous building, surely a bit of comfort is not too much to ask. We paid over $100 each for our seats.
Bring back the St James!

Date Night at the Ballet
Nov 2019
We came in midweek, to the Ballet - clean and tidy, and a few uneven boards/stairs. Amazing building, very helpful staff

Magnificent theatre.

It's like stepping back in time to the days where going to the theatre was so glamourus. Very special atmosphere to watch the Mousetrap. Wellington is very lucky to have such a wonderful theatre

Let down by the noise
May 2019 • Friends
Went along to see Mousetrap, the evening was spoilt by rowdy backpackers next door, and people moving about alot, banging and crashing of seats and doors which made it hard to hear the play. They also need to stop selling packets of chips, people purchased these at interval to eat during the show, so noisy and could see other people were getting annoyed. May be different if its a musical as the music would be loud enough to maybe drown out the noise. Such a shame as the venue is very old and lots of character which would normally be perfect for a show of this kind and the show itself and actors were fantastic and couldnt be faulted.

Shocking noise problem from backpackers next door.
May 2019 • Friends
Great play but totally ruined by the noise from the backpackers next door. If you are going on a Friday or Saturday evening make sure you are not seated on the left side of the theatre. I feel very let down and upset having spent A LOT of money on the ticket. The play and cast were excellent, such a shame the venue spoiled it.

Great venue but do not sell Crisps to patrons in the interval!!!
May 2019 • Couples
Saw the first night of The Mousetrap on my first visit to this theatre. Loved the venue and they play. I was horrified when the woman next to me started eating a packet crisps/chippies she had bought at the stall in the interval. Why on earth would a venue like this think of selling chippies with the noise of rustling packaging and crunchy chewing. Luckily the person's friend was so embarrassed she asked her to stop which she did as the noise made it difficult to hear the actors. Why allow food and drink in the auditorium at all? It is not necessary. My partner almost slid over on an empty plastic drink bottle which was on the steps as we left the circle.
