Visited on a windy winters day after an amazing lunch at a nearby restaurant. Ordered 2 hot chocolates, one dark the other sweet. Nice enough, but for the price, there are plenty other cafes that do great hot chocolates for less.

On the basis of four different "chocolate" products from this company, definite triumph of branding/vibe/locavorism over, well, not tasting like a mixture of solidified fat and gritty cocoa.
They have nice stories and personable staff and whimsical packaging but, when it comes to the product itself, -don't- know what they're doing.
And before anyone says that's mean or it misses the point - rest assured that there's no end to boomer / gastrotourist gullibility - they're in no danger.
Tour perhaps / purchase - well, you've been warned.

I have been to Wellington Chocolate Factory many times but today was the first tour I've done. The tour was excellent, the host was knowledgeable and passionate. They make THE best hot chocolate in Wellington. The cost was was well worth it. The people and WCF are amazing and friendly and really care about ethically sourced and delicious chocolate.

Stopped in for a hot chocolate on a cold windy day. Which chocolate do you want? We had Peru. Wow. Single origin chocolate.
This is extraordinarily delicious- transcending "having a hot chocolate" to an experience.
Just loved it.

Love this spot for working remotely while sipping on a delicious hot chocolate. Love it also for popping in on a cold day to warm up with a delicious hot chocolate. There is a good range of dairy free milks available and all chocolate is GF with some being vegan also. Super friendly staff and currently a super deal where we bought a chocolate bar of our choice for $10 and received a free hot chocolate also of our choice. Yum yum yum!!!

Awesome place to chill out and get a chocolate fix, hot chocolate drink is exceptional!!
Have a look at how the chocolate is made. Great range of single source chocolate and unique flavoured options.
Staff are super friendly and helpful. A regular stop or a destination spot - definitely worth a look.

We stopped here during a food tour. One of the owners provided a tutorial on the making of chocolate starting with the cacao bean and its slimy interior all the way through the process until the finish product comes out.
This shop, hidden away in the alleys off Eva Street, not too far from the popular Cuba street, makes only organic chocolate. While the offer some concentrated chocolate (think 70% and more) their most popular items incorporate other flavors into the bars. You can stand at their production floor window and watch the product being made. It doesn't get any fresher than that.

We ordered: hot chocolate, baby chino, choco chip cookie, brownie and milk chocolate - brownie and cookie was very tasty though, the chocolate drinks were neither here or there, for us we were expecting the chocolate taste to be similar to Cadbury, but here it was a unique taste. Don’t be discourage by this, definitely give this place a go.
