We had a wonderful day with Stephen. He gave us so much information about New Zealand and the Māori culture. The geothermal landscape was fascinating.

We arrived by ship, we booked Zealander tours ourselves. We were advised where to meet and as promised, they were there to greet us. Our guide Steve was a really nice guy full of lots of info along the way. Steve had a great sense of humour and we had a lot of laughs. The Te Puia Maori Cultural Centre was a great experience, the geysers were a sight to see, amazing geothermal park. Great talk on the Maori history. Then onto the Polynesian Spa. We had Deluxe tickets, so got sat in some beautiful natural mineral baths and gaze over the lake. Steve bought us our lunch, arranged a pick up time and was there at the agreed time to pick us up, we had plenty of time in the pools. As we were ahead of schedule, he took us to some additional places. We saw the Redrock Treewalk and he took us to an area with beautiful waterfalls. On the way back to the ship we were keen to see Tauranga's beach area on opposite side of the port. Steve was more than happy to take us there. Absolutley beautiful beaches , cafes bars etc. Unfortunately being on a cruise, only one day here. Steve made sure we were back in plenty of time to board the ship. Five star experience with Steve. Excellent day! Thanks Steve!

Very happy with this trip. Our driver Duncan? was great and very good value for money.
Bus ride was excellent - even in the rain and really enjoyed Māori village. Would recommend to all.

We were very disappointed with this tour. Our first stop was at a kiwi farm where we took a couple pictures. We never saw any waterfall as the description states you will. Okere Falls, was the next stop. The redwood forest was absolutely stunning, however there was no time for a "short stroll". We were there long enough to use the restroom and back in the car we went. Again, there were no waterfalls seen on this trip as it states multiple times that you would. We did not stop for lunch "beside Lake Rotorua". We were actually dropped off at some food court in the middle of a not so great area. There were homeless people everywhere. In fact we witnessed some stealing shoes while we were there. This was not a tourist site. I would never have stopped there nor let any one from out of town stop there either. This was a very poor decision. We then went to the Maori village, which was cool, but the group was so big that you could not hear the guide what so ever. Then making our way back to the town/ship, the driver decided he would take us along the coast to take pictures at the beach. As he was making his right hand turn, we were nearly T-boned. After taking pictures for 2 minutes at the beach, as we were backing out of the parking stall, the driver nearly backed into another vehicle. Over all this was not a good tour. We could not wait to get back and out of the car. The 90 minutes in the Maori village was the longest we were out of the car the entire day. The tour was supposed to be 7.5 hour, which turned out to be only 6 hours (thank god). I would highly suggest visiting the redwood forest, but do not do it with the tour. You will not have time to enjoy it. I wouldn't suggest doing this tour period. This was not a "worry free excursion" again as the description states. I reached out to the owner for a refund which she refused to do.

Hi Ashley, As I have already spoken with you in regards to your complaint - I am going to post the exact same reply I have already given you. I am sorry to read that you did not enjoy your day yesterday. I have spoken with your guide and he has told me he went to every place and stop on our itinerary other than cafe at lake area and Okere Trout pool and falls. Reason being cafe takes too long to take orders and do coffees for 11 people and you were short on time yesterday due to your sbip leaving at 5.30 which means we have to plan to have you back by 4.30. The foodcourt in The Mall is quickest option to feed a group of 11 at same time, as there are multiple food outlets and choices of food styles., including multiple bathrooms. The food is always very fresh as turnover is high. In regards to homeless people being there, unfortunately a sign of the times, like all countries in the world, NZ is no exception to homelessness, however The Mall is one of the safest places to be in Rotorua as they have security staff on site. Okere Trout pool and falls and rapids, Willem opted to not stop here on your return journey to your ship because he didnt have enough time to comfortably let you all out there to wander and ensure you didnt run into traffic congestion on return drive to ship. This area is still 1 hr drive from your ship, we need min of 25 mins at Trout pool and falls area. When your guide got closer to your ship he still had 15 mins so he took you to the beach, NZ's most popular beach with its 22 kms of white sandy beach and surf. Our major concern on every tour is to not take risks that you miss your ship, so the guide has the right to amend an itinerary to ensure your guarantee to return to ship on time. In regards to vehicle, traffic incident you referred to, Willem was not aware that at any time you nearly got "T boned" as you have quoted. and I am sure he would have remembered this incident if it happened. I note you are from US so our road rules are definitely different here in NZ, and I am sure Willem would have known if any driver did anything crazy and you had a near miss. In NZ we dont give refunds unless we fail to comply with our Consumner Guarantee laws around Services, and it looks like we met all of the criteria so there is no refund due. The major component of your tour was to visit Maori Village and get up close to Geothermal activity which is where you spent most of your time. All the other stops are extras we add on for interest. Travel time from port of Tauranga to Rotorua city to see the geothermal is minimum of 1hour and 20 mins, each way, if we encounter road works we easily need to add on another 15 to 20 mins, which we have to make allowances for. Willem was very surprised to hear that you had not enjoyed the day as you had not expressed any if this to him throughout your day. Jan

We lucked out getting Steven as our guide for this tour. He was calm , pleasant , and even had surprises for us. We stopped at a kiwi orchard, and after explaining the basics of kiwi crops, he gave us packets of dried kiwi. Along the way we also sampled fresh kiwi and manuka honey. Steven shared history and all kinds of information as well as answered our questions. A stop at a geothermal village for lunch, a tour, and a performance added to this memorable tour. What a great day!

WOW a real gem of a trip
A tour by Zealandier Tours was a great experience from start o finish
Collected at the port and returned to the same spot in plenty of time to re board the ship.
There were a few stopping points on route to the live Maori Village
Kiwi Farm / The forest then onto the village were the experience goes up a notch to see how the people live by using the natural facilities the area provides is nothing short of amazing, I wont detail it all as future travellers need to have the surprises that will come there way, so f you choose this trip sit back relax and enjoy
THANK YOU ALL AT ZEALNADIER TOURS
