Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent a highly enjoyable hour and a half in this peaceful and attractive setting. The volunteer gardeners have done a sensational job converting the former quarry into a beautiful park. For those with less energy we would recommend giving the top section a miss, as it lacks the attractive plantings found lower down and is steep and awkward in places. The free guide maps that describe the plantings and the sculptures are very useful. One could easily spend half a day here if only there was a cafe!

I was just planning on staying an hour to walk the main track; journey plans meant that I had to tear myself away after 3 hours.
I'm no gardener but the variety of plants and the condition of plants and tracks/steps is hugely impressive. There are also a number of fine sculptures and artworks.
Definately need good footwear if you choose to battle up the off-track trail to the waterfall, and beyond.
Surprising few visitors on on sunny day.

Lovely surprise. First thing stepping out of the car was the birds songs - so many! They must love this peaceful place.
With the endless different paths you can easily spend a good few hours with the family ( which we did) including young kids and teenagers. Well taken care of, so much creativity with the plants and the art. We loved treasure hunting ( using the info pamphlet) for the numerous sculptures ending with the wonderful dragon.
Different areas of different types of plants from various area in the world.
You can feel this park is loved by those taking care of it.

This is a must do trip if you are staying in Tauranga. Large and beautifully landscaped gardens with many paths, sculptures, artworks and musical instruments! It has a large carpark and it is free! There is also a bush walk opposite the garden paths. We were very impressed with this amazing park and will be back.

An absolute delight to wander around. Only had time to do the main track in an anti clockwise direction. Was quite steep in places carrying a 10 month old in my front carrier but was rewarded with stunning views over Tauranga. My 3.5yo had a bit of fun in the musical garden. The cairn tribute to Sir Edmund Hillary was also lovely. Well done to the volunteers who do an amazing job.

This was a bit of a surprise. There were several different walking paths taking us to different style gardens and views. At various times of the year this place would be a beautiful array of flowering plants, however for us the best area was the bromeliads as it was the heart of summer and most flowers had passed their best. Potentially there will be a great orchid area when the time is right, and also the roses. The views are beautiful as it is quite high up overlooking Mt Maunganui. Well worth a wander which could last for half an hour or several hours depending on you. There is a donation box to help run the place.

We (myself, husband and 81 year old Mum) visited Te Puna Quarry Park on a cool and cloudy day. Despite the rather average weather, we thoroughly enjoyed it. So many interesting plants and sculptures in a lovely setting. Mum walks with a stick, but there was still plenty for her to enjoy. We took the left hand path first as far as the orchids/butterfly garden (great views, even though not at the top of the park) and then retraced our steps as far as the frog pond in the opposite direction. Fab. Mum had a rest while I scooted up to complete the loop as the steps to the top were too steep for her. Hard to believe this place is run by volunteers and no entry fee. We were more than happy to leave a donation :)

Well maintained and lots of interesting sculptures and artifacts for the whole family to enjoy and interact with. Take some time to wander around. Well done to the volunteers who have made an unused quarry into a useful area

This is one of those places that you stumble across and could happily spend far longer here than you have available. There are so many hidden parts to the garden including interactive parts . The views from further up the gardens are fantastic and are worth bringing a picnic to. Definitely worth a return visit.

Enjoyed a pleasant stroll around this spacious park. Lots of individual planting areas and many interesting sculptures. Some hills but fairly easy walking. Plenty of parking and toilets. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area
