Absolutely fantastic day with Stephen. Can not recommend enough. We booked the Hobbiton Tour through Adventure Tours as the Cruise option was fully booked. So glad this happened. Stephen was waiting for us exactly where he said he would be. The mini bus was so comfortable. The on board snacks provided were good but the home made Brownies made by his wife were the best brownies I have ever tasted... worth booking just for these!! The extra stops on the way to and from Hobbiton was great added extras (at no extra cost) will definitely book with these again if we are ever lucky enough to visit New Zealand again.

What an excellent day out professionally narrated by Stephen, the guide and owner.
A brilliant itinerary provided in a modern minibus with Wi-Fi, snacks and anything else you could think of.
The visit to the Maori village and geysers was absolutely amazing, plus the buffet lunch was a nice touch.
Felt I knew more about the area by the end of the day including history and the culture.
100% recommend this company if you are in the area, professional and friendly what more could you wish for

Our group had the best day with Stephen as he picked us from our cruise ship in his immaculate bus equipped with free wifi, snacks and cold water - very nice touch! Along the way, he updated us with the best of Kiwi knowledge and accommodated our limited time in his beautiful city by choosing the best options for us to do. The lunch was fabulous as we felt refreshed and hungry from our relaxing time in the spa/hot tubs before heading to look at the geysers and take plenty of photos. Stephen is clearly passionate about showing visitors the best of his world and we loved his professionalism and friendliness. At all times, he was the epitome of the perfect host. Well done on creating a business that truly looks after its clients :)

Our port time in Tauranga was limited as we could not alight our ship until 10:30am and had to be back on board by 5:00pm.
From our initial contact Stephen kept us appraised on what to expect and how long our travel times would be. Prior to departing for Rotorua Stephen gave us a tour and great commentary on Tauranga before heading down the highway to the Polynesian Spa. We had a good hour in the geothermal springs before heading over toTe Puia Maori Village for an excellent buffet lunch and a tour of the geysers. Given our lack of time in port we did cut this section short.
Stephen did get us back to our ship with 15 minutes to spare.
If you are cruising to Tauranga then I would definitely recommend Stephens company. He gives an excellent commentary and customer service with the best vehicle in Tauranga ( Snacks, cold water and wifi included)

This was a definite highlight of my trip. Stephen was by far the best tour guide I had witnessed in my two months of visiting New Zealand. He was funny, professional and very knowledgeable about the various areas that we visited. Visiting Hobbiton was definitely a fun part of the trip, but in all honesty Stephen made the short stops along the way some of the best parts of the whole thing. Cannot recommend this company enough, an absolute gem.

Stephen was a wonderful tour guide. I WhatsApp him before signing up and he was prompt and informative. Reason: the cruise ship we were on Majestic Princess arrived later in the morning in Tauranga and we could not get off until around 11:30a, but he was able to plan that day's tour to fit our schedule, even though the group tour mostly had others not from the boat. He took us to a honey shop and had a free scoop of ice cream as part of tour (nice!), and there were baked brownies and water bottles to keep us refreshed on the bus. Not only did we see Tolkien's Hobbiton as in a dream (if your dream includes 100s of fellow fans :-) roaming in timed group-sized clumps, actually it wasn't too bad if you are patient to get your photos), but we also enjoyed McLaren Falls and a waterfall hike to another waterfall, and lookout point. He dropped us off in Tauranga so we could walk and browse the shops on way back to the boat. Thanks Stephen!

I cannot recommend highly enough this trip with Stephen. He is a great tour guide. We did the Hobbiton Tour, and even though it rained all day, it did not spoil our day at all. Stephen was full of interesting information about Hobbiton & Tauranga. Not only was Stephen a great tour guide, he went above and beyond in helping us when my Husband left his mobile phone on the tour bus when we returned back to our cruise ship. Stephen turned around and drove back to ensure we got the mobile phone back.
If you are thinking of doing any tours in the Bay of Plenty, look up this great company and Stephen Appleton you will not be disappointed.

Stephen provided transport to and from Hobbiton from the cruise terminal. It was a great day, and he was very organised and professional. He was knowledgeable and checked in on us to ensure we were having a good time. After our Hobbiton visit we went to the waterfall and enjoyed a tour of the city, returning to the cruise ship tired but happy. He also provided bottled water and snacks.

Exceptional communication and service provided to us for many days and weeks in advance of our planned tour to Hobbiton. Stephen was always in immediate contact via email, phone, and texts. He responded very quickly. His perosnal approach to giving exceptional customer service and experience, is outstanding in every way.
We had to plan around our cruise ship excursion as they cancelled it on us for unknown reasons, We booked with Stephen based on all the previous comments and reviews we read. Unfortunately, on the day we were to arrive in port, the Tuaranga Port closed due to rough seas, and the ship stayed out to sea that day, and headed to Auckland.
None of this was anyone's fault, but Stephen stayed in touch, and had a refund processed for us promptly. I am sorry to have missed our adventure, and the opportunity to meet Stephen and his family. I would book with him in a heart beat if I had the chance to make it back to Tauranga again.

Stephen was great! Very knowledgeable about Tauranga and the surrounding area. Tour of the organic kiwi farm was very informative. Now I understand why kiwis cost so much, especially with the tremendous amount of care that goes into each fruit. McLaren park was beautiful, nice waterfall on a really pleasant weekend.

We went to a hobbiton trip with Stephen Appleton, the trip was so well organised, Stephen was so friendly and fun, he gave us lots of information during the whole trip, very comfortable car... oh and very delicious brownies made by his wife … Thanks wify
