Kinloch is a very quiet town. Beach is nice to take photos. It gets very cold here. Lovely views in the evenings.

Kinloch is a sandy beach which stretches along the Whangamata Bay with spectacular views of Lake Taupo and mountains of Tongarino National Park.

Beautiful, peaceful spot in off season, I would imagine hugely busy in summer. I stayed in my motorhome at the marina, with 6 camp spots (4 powered) available for rv's. It is well appointed, very pretty and well maintained. Great public toilets and picnic areas nearby. I had the place to myself for 2 nights (max stay). Some lovely walks and mt biking tracks around the lake for all levels of fitness. Was raining during my visit, but I could still appreciate the beauty of the lake and surrounds.
Would have gone on a fishing trip on the lake, but too wet this time. Lovely store with everything you need and more ! The cafe style licensed restaurant had good food too. Fish n chips in the dairy/store were exceptional, best ever !

I went here for a family picnic . The wind was at gale level straight off the bay . We sheltered by the Marina behind some trees , we had a large group of overseas visitors , children and grandparents . It all added to the hilarity of trying to butter bread and eat like “ ladies “ with our hats a flutter and dresses whipping around our knees and getting sandblasted as we sat we were told off by a swan who wanted to shelter with her cygnets .. We went on a walk along the bay to do geo caching and then walked up the Whangamata Stream . We could see the beach appeal and recommend .

What a superb area to visit, although the beach is shingle, the area serves visitors well. A local general store, serving food, plus a inspection wee pub and restaurant, also free BBQ, spotless toilet and a wee shed offering toys and books to visitors, donated by locals! Add walks, bike rental and runs, lovely little harbour and it is heaven on Earth.m

This was a lovely relaxed beach. It was a great spot for a quick visit to Lake Taupo. We spend a few hours here and it was highly recommended. We were there in January & it was full of holiday makers, but not crazily busy. There is a little corner shop that does fish & chips aswell.
