Totally enjoyed a day fishing with Brett Cameron as our tutor, guide & companion. In the morning we tried fly fishing.I'm a complete novice but with his tutoring I caught & released a couple of trout. I enjoyed the tranquility of river fishing. Brett picked us up from our hotel: he has all the fishing equipment, waterproof clothing & waders so we needed to take nothing with us. In the avo we went out fishing for a few hours on the lake in Brett's boat. After that we were happy to head a little out of the main centre to soak in the excellent geothermal Wairakei hot pools before pizza at the Two Mile Bay Sailing Club. Perfect.

I've had the pleasure to spend an afternoon fishing on Brett ' s comfortable boat on beautiful lake Taupo. My first real fishing experience and it was a lot of fun! Brett is an amazing guy with great knowledge about fishing, the area and he has a good sense of humor. We've catched a few rainbow trouts which we ate that same evening! And if you need a very nice place to stay Brett and Lisa rent out a Bach with views over the lake! I truly recommend this to anyone who loves fishing or like me, who likes to try! It's a lot of fun and very relaxing. Go for it :-)

Brett is an extremely good guide with great local knowledge. We went to a small river that we had all to ourselves and even with my lack of fly fishing experience and skill managed to hook a lot of trout. Landing four of them was just icing on the cake. I can thoroughly recommend fishing with Brett as a guide. Staying at Brett's bach (house) on the lake was an added bonus that made the whole experience extraordinary. What a view!!!!!!!

We booked Brett for the day -- our first guided fly fishing trip ever, and first in New Zealand. My husband is an experienced angler; I am a beginner at fly fishing. Brett spent time on his cell phone while with us, and at times disappeared altogether, including once when my husband had a fish on and needed a net. Brett would show my husband where the fish was and then let him get after it, without much instruction or guidance. My husband had a strike early on and missed it; Brett was so frustrated with about the miss that he went on about it several times that day saying how he had missed a "golden opportunity." By early afternoon, I felt that Brett had given up on me and was just focused on finding fish for my husband. And he did in all fairness, as my husband caught several. I would not recommend Brett for a beginner; I was upset almost from the beginning because of Brett's impatience, frustration, and lack of ability to truly teach and instruct. If I was less determined about learning to fly fish, I would have given up on the sport after that day.

Spent a great day fly fishing with Brett in Taupo back country. Hadn't fly fished for 25 years but still managed to get about a dozen fish on drys and nymphs and learnt a heap. Brett is an excellent guide. If there is a fish around he will give you your best chance of catching it. He has a genuine love of the fishery and the environment which made the experience even better. Lisa also catered extremely well for my food intolerance. Thanks cpf!

Had the best fly fishing experience ever with the experienced Brett Cameron as a guide.
Not only caught some great fish but also learned many new techniques on how to fish the Taupo area .
If you want a fly fishing day to remember I highly recommend spending a day or two with Brett. He is very knowledgeable on both Lake and River fishing in the Taupo area.

We fished for two days in different beautiful spots.
Brett was very good and patient with me, as it was my first experience with fly fishing. Prepared the nicest sandwiches and snacks and had everything you could possibly need on a fishing trip.
Loved to do it again!

What a great day my husband and I had learning the techniques of fly fishing. Both novices we fully appreciated the experience and knowledge of Brett Cameron, who made our day fun and enjoyable and even more with us both catching a few trout! Highly recommend a day out with Brett!

For my girlfriend and I, it was our first fishing experience and i have to admit that we’ll remember it a long long time. Thanks to the magnificient Brett !
Let’s begin with the boat, handsome, spacious and well maintened, you gonna fish with professionnal and high quality equipment. About Brett himself : Professionnal, good teacher, teacher with humour, in less than 10 minutes on the beautiful Lake Taupo, Carole & I caught our first rainbow trout with so many pride and congratulations from him. But fishing with Brett it’s not only fishing, but also clear explanations about Taupo, the environment, his history. To resume, it’s just a pleasure to spend time with him.

From total beginner to... well, fairly competent, in half a day. Really enjoyed this. Brett clearly knew what he was about. The equipment was perfect, either brand new or nearly brand new; I needed to provide nothing myself. He clearly knew the spots to go. If I was a faster learner I'd have been pulling out fish for 4 hours, and in beautiful surroundings too. As it was I played 4 good sized fish and landed two of them.
Very patient explanation, and sound advice about what I should do/purchase next to pursue this new hobby.
I'm a very happy angler - if I'd had the time I'd have gone back out again.
