It may not be an "original" Maori carving but this work of art has got to rate as one of the must see attractions during a visit to Lake Taupo. The size of the carving is immense and the effort to detail is outstanding.

We visited the carvings as part of a kayaking trip from Taupo. The kayaking took the majority of the morning return. The carvings are really wonderful and kayaking on the lake is really peaceful.

Travelled on fearless, (sail boat). What a beautiful trip out to the carvings. Very tranquil. There is more carvings out there other than the main one. Well worth the trip

Pleasant boat trip to the rock carvings. Not ancient but very traditional. Skilful modern art in traditional style.

Great tour. Well worth the money. They cooked muffins, which the ducks loved. Trout fishing, but didn't catch any.

Well worth seeing. We sailed with Fearless - the skipper pointed out so many features and spent a decent amount of time there.

You can access the carvings from the road nearby, but many boat trips also go here and offer swimming and photo opportunities. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. They are very striking and all have a history so I'm glad we went...More

We took a sailboat out on the water to see the caves which was a great way to see them. The details are great and have maintained well in the weather. Do go and see them if you are in the area.

we have been to there at10am and the weather was heavy rainy, but we still enjoy the trip, also we see the special rainbow on board. I can imagine the sunny day will be beautiful especially for a amazing sunset.

We booked online via Sail Barnaby, cheapest among the ones we saw. Plus, they have online promos so we got additional discounts. Always better to book online rather than take a chance that there will be available slots. :D
