About
"Be Fearless" Come on board Fearless for simply the best sailing experience on Great Lake Taupō. This is the more intimate cruise option to the famous Maori Rock carvings, with sleek lines and a maximum of only 18 passengers. Guests can relax on beanbags and snuggle under blankets, or give the crew a hand. The pirate-themed Sail Fearless has got to be the not-so-buried treasure of Great Lake Taupō . With a heart of gold and extensive knowledge of the region, lake and notoriously quick-tempered weather of New Zealand it is no wonder Fearless (David) has won so many awards for his affordable cruises. The Experience Experience the beauty and thrill of a scenic journey out to the infamous Maori rock carvings taking in the popular Te Kopua and Acacia Bays en route. Be sure to bring your camera to capture some of the most breathtaking views around. The Sailing Fearless sails under full sail or gently meanders, when it is truly calm, by motor. The Swim Stop Each trip includes a swimming stop in summer or winter if your brave (weather depended). The longest swim stop out of any other company on the lake. The Refreshments Light Refreshments can be purchased from the cheapest bar on the lake or you can also bring your own light refreshments for your convenience. So come and join us on Fearless for a trip to remember! note Please be at Berth # 31, 15 minutes prior to sailing time. Also please bring warm clothing & soft shoes (No hard shoes) You are more than welcome to bring food and drinks on-board too.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Total tourist waste of time.

The carvings are only 40 years old, done to attract tourists. So nothing felt truly authentic.

Why bother?

The entire experience from start to finish was fabulous. The weather, the boat, the pizza and beer, the briskness of the water, and of course, the guide Nathan! The carvings were awesome to see in real life and so close...you can't get the full appreciation of the carvings unless you get up close. Highly recommend. Did not disappoint.

We had also much fun sailing with Nathan and Aaron! We motored out to the beautiful Māori carvings and got to swim off the boat in a calm cove. Then we sailed back to the marina, and Nathan let our young kids “steer” the boat. They loved it!! Highly recommend to everyone visiting the area.

I can't say enough positive things about this sailing experience! :) We weren't sure what to expect coming into it, but we had such a wonderful time on the water. The crew is friendly, professional, and personable. The boat is comfortable and large enough for the group. It was cold for us, but they had blankets and hot drinks at the ready.

We sailed around and listened to interesting information about the lake, area, and of course, the Māori Rock Carvings. It was relaxing, enjoyable, and we learned more about the area. Highly recommend for any visitors to Taupo! :)

This trip was amazing. The staff, Nathan and Danny, were funny, enthusiastic and fantastic. There was a variety of young solo travellers, older families and couples and everyone was friendly and having fun. Never felt too crowded on the boat. We did the sunset tour and was still warm enough to swim

My husband and I made a last-minute change to our plans in order to sail o Tiua and are SO glad we did! This catamaran is absolutely beautiful, and we were blessed with a perfect day of weather to join Dave & Jess on this sailing trip. We happened to be the only guests that day so got a bit of private time to relax in the bean bag chairs on the catamaran nets. We felt so relaxed the entire time on board and enjoyed chatting with Dave & Jess--they were both so knowledgeable about the area and Maori history! Tiua is a relatively new boat to sailing Lake Taupo. If you are considering a sailing tour, I highly recommend this one!

What a great trip! We enjoyed it very much, especially the sailing part, thanks to just enough wind!! Nathan was an excellent host and skipper and took perfect care of everybody on board. I recommend the trip warmly and will certainly do it again next time in Taupō...
