- Rick MNapier, New Zealand410 contributionsOnce they get the basics right…We did the walking tour and then took a dip in the pools. The walking tour was okay but the pools were lovely, especially sans kids. Our only gripe was the lack of information at the reception. We weren’t told where the lockers were so ended up at the pools, nor did they bother to tells us where the walking tour started, so ended up at the pools for a second water time.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 January 2023
- Michael JSault Ste. Marie, Canada268 contributionsA wonderful relaxing afternoonBeautiful thermal pools and terraces at reasonable prices. ($20) per person with no time limit. Walking tour among the geo-thermal terraces, geyser and moari village for an additional $15. Highly recommended.Visited January 2023Written 10 February 2023
- Rebecca H15 contributionsBeautiful relaxing poolsReally enjoyed our visit here. Really good value. The pools are a gorgeous crystal blue colour and you can move between the pools of different temperatures. Very relaxing. No children is quite a nice bonus! Definitely recommend a visit here!Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 February 2023
- ReggieLombardDubai, United Arab Emirates255 contributionsThe geyser is a must see if in TaupoA small geothermal park with an adjacent pool to bath in the warm mineral water . Currently part of park is closed to public so the Māori pa village is closed . Price has been reduced to half price to compensate The geyser in the park is worth the visit for anyone who is into the wonders of nature !! It's fascinating to watch ! Walk os about 20 mins in length and varies species of trees are marked and identifiedVisited February 2023Travelled soloWritten 27 February 2023
- Margarita QueenWorcester, United Kingdom5 contributionsGreat couple of hours come rain or shineEasy to find, easy to park, straightforward entry- you can hire towels, togs (trunks/costumes), lockers (although you can take your bag with you and hang up near whichever pool you are in), temperature goes up to about 40 degrees in one pool so beware of you have high blood pressure or are pregnant! Suggest taking crocs/flip flops/jangles/thongs and a bottle of water as there aren’t any taps around the pools. Cafe closed at 4pm which is a shame because it doesn’t close till 8pm and you come out thirsty and hungry!Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 March 2023
- Angela M4 contributionsWairakei Terraces - walk and swimLoved the 30 minute walk around the terraces/pools. A nice short walk and recommend before the swim so you can see where your lovely warm water is coming from. So clean and well landscaped! Then the swimming pools (4) were beautifully done - sculpted into the landscape, clean, great natural minerals to refresh and revitalise you. And because it is over 14yr olds only so peaceful! Totally recommend it to anyone in Taupo or travelling around. We were in Rotorua doing a round trip back to Auckland and it was worth the detour!Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 April 2023
- Eleven RoeKihei, Hawaii183 contributionsA luxurious experienceA very nice spot just outside of Taupo. Adults only, so it's pretty serene. There's lots of pools to choose from and plenty of space for everyone. Bring lots of water or fill up your bottle when you check in and pay. I couldn't find water refill stations down by the pools. You can rent a locker and towel to store your stuff and you get a refund when you give it back, or you can just carry it along with you around the pools. There's plenty of space for a tote bag full of water and towels if you don't mind carrying it up and down the hill. The locker rooms are a bit small and crowded, too. All in all, I loved this place and will definitely come again the next time I'm in Taupo.Visited April 2023Written 9 May 2023
- HollieScotland, United Kingdom10 contributionsVery cool experience, definitely do walk!!It was a very cool experience, the pools are very cool. There are 3 pools (different temperatures). Im glad I got it for a discounted price (on bookme) as I wouldn’t want to pay the full amount for it. There’s a very short walk you can do which I definitely 100% recommend doing! It’s so so beautiful!Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 1 June 2023
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada2,050 contributionsSmooth Skin after the SpaWe enjoyed the thermal spa and spent about an hour and a half here going through the different pools. The one at the top is the hottest and has signage to show that it might go above 40 C and to be careful but the rest is all very pleasant. We went during the winter and spent the most time in the pool with the large waterfall. We were surprised to find out how pricey it was but most springs in the area you can bathe in appear to be privately owned so I guess we shouldn't have been too surprised. The springs are $27 NZD and the walkway is $15 NZD. We were keen to do both but they do not offer a combo so we declined to spend more as the sun was setting. The hot pools charge additional fees for the lockers, towels and swimwear. They allowed us to share a locker but we found many guests just carried their items to the springs area without issue. There are hooks and benches that are relatively dry to hang bags and towels. Bringing your own swimwear and towels would be recommended and you could leave your valuables in your vehicle without issue too. We would recommend wearing sandals or flip flops as the mats in the hot pools area were not comfortable to walk on. They are open into the evening and we felt this was a nice spot to watch the sun go down as the many free parks and attractions around us were closing their gates. They recommend that you do not shower for 4 to 8 hours after to feel the effects of the water and we followed that recommendation and felt our skin was smoother.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 July 2023

This is a lovely facility with four pools that you can choose your own temperature to relax in. They have an optional walk around the terraces to see the geothermal pools bubbling out of the ground and down towards to the pools. Great way to spend a rainy day!

We visitied late afternoon into the early evening. The pool area is beautiful natural and hot. The three pools are of different temperatures (unknown due to the natural nature of the water).
When we visited it was busy but were able to find somewhere to sit and relax in all the pools.
If you are used to similar in other parts of the world you will be disappointed at what is not included in the price eg water, nice facilities, robes, towels etc. However, these can all be purchased or hired at a small additional cost, making the entry cost a bargain and the experience authentic.
The only thing that would make this any better would be a swim up bar.

As we were on holiday with the kids we couldn’t go in the adults only pools (which looked amazing) so we took them for the walk around the terraces
It took us about half an hour, we were all impressed with the steaming water running over the terraces and impressive geyser
Kids loved it, nice walk, lovely grounds. The lady on reception was really nice too

My sisrer-in-law and I did the three treats at the Terraces - the pools have always been fantastic - simply brilliant to soak among the native trees - the pools are clean and the different temperatures provide a variety. The spa treatment was profesional and good value - we had the hot stone and it was fantastic - we had been years ago but they now have a separate whare (cabin) for it and it is magical - a real treat too. On the last day we stopped as we were going to be early for another appointment and walked around the terraces - we were amazed at the scenery and how tidy and cared for it was - a lovely walk and like a walk back in time to see the PInk and White Terraces!! totally recommend a walk, then spa then soak.

Visited using bookme.com ticket. Only about 10 people there at the time we went (11am). We travelled in winter, so thoroughly enjoyed the warm pools that range from 30-40 degrees C. I'm someone who gets cold easily and loves it warm, so I enjoyed the hottest pool, where as my husband isn't as extreme and enjoyed the cooler pools. Fun finding the poo that best meets your heat preferences. Stayed for approx 1.5 hours. Simple cafe on site.

Best hot soak in natural silica pools, stay as long as you like, reasonable price and no children, so quiet and relaxing. Recommend getting special on Grabone.

Beautiful unique walk, loved the terraces but that’s all there is going for it so the price doesn’t equal the experience. Glad we did it once, wouldn’t go back.

I see I can book a walk through the terraces or book entry into hotpools. If I book entry to hotpools, woukdnt that include walking through the terraces? Or is the walk something completely separate?
Ben&Casey
Taupo, New Zealand6 contributions
They are separate, to get to the pools you just walk down a fardened path, the terraces walk is more of a geothermal boardwalk and is seperate

Hi, Yes - there are showers - however - they say that you don't get the benefits of the minerals in the water if you shower it off immediately afterwards.

We bought half price tickets from grabone. They are on sale again now. Best hot pools experience weve had. I phoned ahead to check if we needed to book and told to just turn up. I bought more grabone tickets for these pools as we enjoyed them so much.
