Pukekura Park covers 52ha (128 acres) right in the heart of New Plymouth, Taranaki and is one of New Zealand's premier botanical gardens. The park has an international Green Flag award and is a Garden of National Significance. With a diverse range of landscapes, the park features bush walks, formal gardens, lakes, children's play areas, a sports area and a Tea House. The park includes the Fernery and Display Houses as well as the adjacent garden estate area of Brooklands, home to the acclaimed TSB Bowl of Brooklands and Brooklands Zoo. As a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, Pukekura Park lights up over the summer as the backdrop for the annual TSB Bank Festival of Lights. The park is free to enter and can be accessed from various streets including Liardet Street, Brooklands Road, Fillis Street, Rogan Street, Kaimata Street and List Street.

Good greenery kids play area small zoo and lot of walking lot of trees excellent flowering plants. If the park can introduce guided tours by using electric carts then it would have stood out.

Arriving late afternoon we headed to our favourite place - took an hours walk in the park in the fresh air - enjoying the water wheel and the fountain which someone had activated.

There is something for everyone - casual walks, runs, coffee, ice-cream, glow worms, beautiful gardens, wildlife and it's also the home of WOMAD, the Festival of Lights and many other concerts.

Great park with plenty to see. Christams is a fantastic time to wonder threw the park with all the Christmas lights on display you are in a magical wonder land.Definetly worth the drive to see the light alone. Walk to the top of the park...More

I am so lucky to live so very close to this park. I went for a late evening walk even though it was misty rain. It was so beautiful. Filled with beautiful trees and flowers. Something different around every corner. A chorus of bird song...More

We spent half a day walking around the park. Lots to see and do espically for young children. Highly recommend visiting this park. Great for taking photos as very picturesque. The fountain and waterfall are great just make sure you activate them to see. Hidden...More

Lovely old trees, nicely set out gardens with a bit of everything, bush walk, ponds, cute mini zoo for the little people. Beautiful way to spend a day.

Took the kids and their kids to the park for a free activity. Lots of space to run ahead in this nice natural environment while we enjoyed the plants and water. Take the easy route or head up the hill trail and back down again....More
