About
Utterly spectacular 11km long walkway along the seafront in New Plymouth, New Zealand. Walk, ride skate or scoot from Bell Block in the north to Port Taranaki to the south taking in the stunning Te Rewa Rewa Bridge, three swimming beaches, a golf club, rolling farm land, rivers and various accessways to residential and shopping areas.

Enjoy the walk and the coast and the views
The beach and the coastal walk way is very friendly and good experience. We walked the walkway and also tried fishing in the kids fishing area. Well maintained and family friendly place

    Wonderful coastal walkway
This is fabulous, extensive shared walkway (we cycled), stretching from the harbour all along the coast. It's so easy to follow and the views are stunning. It undulates a bit and certain stretches seem busier than others (near the beaches)

    Beautiful walking spot
A special place whenever we visit New Plymouth. Easily accessed from the city where we were staying, a nice wide flat path and easy walking. Very nice views up and down the coast and out to sea. It's great to see it being so well used and I think a real asset to the community.

From Fitzroy Beach to Central New Plymouth, this is my favourite Coastal walkway in the whole world.
It is flat&able to take scooters, wheelchairs, bicycles, walkers, rollerbladers, dog walkers, & all types of people in general:)

I like a good walk as much as anybody else and this is certainly one of the prettier ones. Yes, there are cyclists and joggers and the odd skateboarder to be aware of but they were never a problem. The only thing I had a problem with...was getting out!
Maybe it is just me and I missed something but I started my 'little stroll' in town near the I-Site centre but found that with the sea on one side and high cliffs on the other, there were no obvious exit points. I ended up walking to the beach, which was much further than intended, but only point I found to 'escape' back to the streets.
I think it is something people should be aware of.
Was still enjoyable though, especially at sunset.

We walked along a fairly short stretch of the walkway from Belt Road to the CBD, then back, and thought that was probably enough. This section of the path is flat, generally wide and mostly of concrete or bitumen. Very easy walking, though watch out for cyclists, a few of whom of the 'fast and furious' brigade. We had a lovely autumn morning with plenty of sunshine and just a gentle breeze, so weather conditions perfect. Of course, lots of views out to sea, but nothing particularly spectacular or memorable.

I did not complete the walk in one go, but bit by bit. It is a good walking track. Lovely as it is most of the time along the sea shore. There are nice views towards Mt Taranaki. It is a shame that the bridge is under repair and that it is not clear what the alternative is. When you are in New Plymouth, just walk at least a bit of it.

What a joy; helped that the sun shone and it was a stunning weekend but an absolute highlight of our trip to New Plymouth. Well maintained with some lovely coffee/snack stop along the way.
