Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Arrived in New Plymouth after an enforce detour due to Cyclone Gabrielle. It's a pretty if quiet town but you can see that they are not used to many tourists.
Spent 2 days here and yet to see a gift shop or anything resembling a souvenir so not one for tourist shoppers.
Spend your time in the park and coastal walkway instead.

Loved the vibe of the cafes and bars and some of the boutique shops. Staff were always smiling and helpful.

We found the West End precinct more by chance than design. What a wonderful spot: a craft beer bar on one side, a wine bar on the other, and a range of food options - Pizza, Asian fusion and more. There is a cheerful buzz in the shared tables in the piazzetta, or, if you prefer, you can sit inside in one of the bars; the best of both worlds! Definitely worth a visit.

Attractive area of small retailers and restaurants tucked away behind the main St. There is an excellent cafe, a lovely home decor store, a boutique etc, and an outdoor seating area which is well patronised.

In an inner courtyard, right near the Len Lye museum, is this wonderful oasis where you can get the most fabulous italian style pizza and some excellent craft beer. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

We often visit New Plymouth for a few days and This precinct is our spot to revisit each time. sometimes just for coffee or lunch and dinner and a drink. Such a good variety of excellent food to choose from and it has a good vibe, a real asset to the central part of town. The shops that link in are well worth browsing. Love the place.
