Staff are not selling the attractions and seem a bit bored to help. the actual building was lovely though.

Lots of ideas and pamphlets to choose from. Staff was very helpful, was able to book tours and get some good deals.

In the era of Covid-19, there was no pressure on staff and we found they had all the time in the world to help. Located in a stunning old building it is a spacious visitors centre and the team very helpful.

The building was beautiful, but the service was poor. I had read about the possibility of renting bicycles from a company that would shuttle us to Waimangu Volcanic Valley for a bike ride back to town, but when I asked for information about bike rentals, etc. the kid behind the counter said he didn't know anything about it and then he gave us directions to an ice cream shop instead of a bike shop, causing us to walk for several blocks in the wrong direction for nothing. My husband's experience with the staff was not much better. When he asked about purchasing a fishing license, the woman who waited on him was extremely rude, as if we had no right to ask for her assistance. Every other i-SITE we visited during our two-month stay in NZ was friendly and helpful, but not this one. The only reason I didn't rate it "terrible" is because the building was so beautiful.

I went there for maps and suggestions all,of which can be found in abundance. Friendly information officers at the counter. And a curio and souvenir shop with a large and quite unique selection of NZ-handmade items. Bought several Maori steel jewelry and small wooden boxes with pearl inlays. Glad that I did because I never came about the same items at other places.
