Amazing experience. We were picked up from isite Rotorua and fun facts about Rotorua and the sites were shared. We were even informed about the popular tourist sites in Rotorua. Loved it.

The area was amazing. I had enough time to walk the whole way to the lake and back. While waiting for the bus I found out that there was a free shuttle there and back.. Which would have saved me £20 ($40). It was a 13 minute drive and I had a car. Very poor show on their part. I highly recommend you buy a ticket directly and use their free shuttle. It's worth going but not worth the rip off travel.

Apart from the Lady Knox geyser which was a complete con and waste of time (just skip it) the rest of the site had a relatively wide range of geothermal features and colours which were worth seeing

When I read the other views mentioning the tour guide, Christine, I thought they were exaggerating, but she really did keep talking for much of the drive. I slept during a good bit, so it didn't bother me too much. Also, I found that some of what she said was pretty informative, but it just felt like her mouth was on automatic. She just kept going and going. The Thermal Wonderland was cool, and Whakarewarewa was also nice. I enjoyed the tour of the village, and the guide was very engaging. The village does nicely for showing its people and culture to others.
