GOOD VIEWS.
Feb 2020
It is the second largest lake in the North Island of New Zealand and located in the Bay of Plenty. Beautiful crystal clear lake and our hotel was next to Lake Rotorua. It is considered the most productive trout fishery in New Zealand.

I took a short walk around the lake shore for about 1 hour. Best view is from the hill above the city.

Was lucky to have tickets to private pool as the public open pool was at capacity - school holidays though. Lovely to relax and take some time to stop

Huge lake forming a backdrop to the city of Rotorua. Great for walking but the building work hampers this just now.

Hard to See with all the Construction
Feb 2020
In Rotorua city, almost the entire waterfront is blocked off for renovation. I'm sure it will be beautiful when it's done but now its hard to get a lake-side view.

One of NZ highlights

A must visit location for the visitors to the north island. Lots of Maori culture. Hot pools and the smell of sulphur. Recommended

Walking path but...
Mar 2020
I wanted to do the path along the lake but lots of construction and fences and lack of signage allowed for very little.

Howard’s Visit
Feb 2020 • Couples
Did a Geothermal Cruise on the lake which was very interesting, buffet lunch was served which was excellent considering the size of the boat. Followed by a tribal song & dance show well worth a visit.

less access than before
Dec 2019
We had previously visited this beautiful lake and found this time that due to construction work we had to find our way around to the shore. Once there it is very magical and we loved the black swans.
