    Lovely spa
I went with the pavilion pools - the cheapest option - and still had a great time. The pavilion pools have an incredible view of the lake. You get as long as you’d like in the pools. They charge extra for lockers and towels but there is space to sit your items you’d like access to or if you don’t want to pay for the locker. It’s a great place to spend a relaxing afternoon. It does smell of sulphur but the water comes from hot springs so it’s expected and if you’re staying in Rotorua you’ll get used to it.

    Don't miss this
What a fabulous way to end a day hiking in the woods (or anything really). The entry fee is very reasonable. There are @ 8-10 different heated thermal pools at differently marked temperatures. All are outdoors and face a fantastic view of the lake and mountains. What could be more relaxing!!! You can stay for an hour or more, depending on what you want. Changing facilities are fine. Small snack bar for a gelato on the way out. A perfect afternoon!! Bring your own towels (and toiletries if you want to wash hair).

A great place to take a dip
This is a great place to take a dip in a hot pool and it has something for everyone. Families to the left, adults only to the right. My only disappointment is that we weren't given those instructions at check in. We went left thinking it was the adult area but it's not. Once we finally made it over to the adult area, we discovered that it is very nice and has more dipping options than the family side. If you don't have kids, just get the adult section admission and bring your own towel and lock, though you can still rent those items for a nominal fee.

Worth it for treatment only - Spa is over rated
I can’t fault the treatment - I had a timeless facial and it was to die for and the treatment area is gorgeous. However, the spa itself, I’m glad I didn’t pay to use it and it came complimentary through the treatment. Changing rooms very dated and I have been to some public leisure centres with nicer and cleaner showers. The pools look pretty but felt very dirty laying in them, didn’t feel relaxing due to the worry of how clean they were actually kept.

Book a treatment for a more glamorous experience of the pools
We booked a massage treatment & this was great value. Access to the 5 private pools are included with the treatment, as well as towels, robes and nice changing rooms. This sounds like a more glamorous way to enjoy the pools compared to some people’s reviews. The treatments were nice & the pools were lovely. Lovely thing to do first thing in the morning when it’s still cold outside.

Great way to unwind after full day of sightseeing
8 great pools of varying temps to unwind and relax in after a full day of sightseeing; refreshing, beautiful night time view on the lake; highly recommend! Wish I could have taken pics, but I think that would have been inappropriate for others’ privacy. You must see/experience it for yourself to appreciate it.

    Nice for a splurge
We went the deluxe side, wow, lovely, very nice but is a little dated. Free lockable lockers, range of heated pools for all tastes, chilling plunge pool. The water does leave jewellery black and your bathers with a odor, (rinse well and wash asap). Will be back

A great way to relax, reduce stress and heal skin
A very romantic way to spend with your partner while enjoying the scenery. Excellent way to relieves stress, relax and unwind. The pools were very warm even though it was fairly cold day and raining. The natural mineral waters and alkaline waters heal my skin. Cannot go solo into private sky view room unfortunately due to safety reasons which was disappointing. The massage was also very good. Nice souvenir shop and cafe.

    Over-crowded Pavilion Pool
Hi. Our Malaysian guests enjoyed the Pavilion Pool yesterday (Matariki Day) BUT the pool was way too crowded. Was this because of the Public holiday?? They didn't even get out of the pool at all for a break as they would have "lost their place in the pool!" So, maybe there needs to be a maximum number of people allowed in the pool at any given time. Hard to regulate, I know, but the over-full pool detracted from what should have been the prefect relaxing swim!

I tried Pavilion Pools for NZ$40. Not worth it! Facility was similar to public swiming pools and the ambiance was nothing we can call "Polynecian". The only one advantage was the lake view, but wasn't worth $40!
特に日本人は10人中10人ガッカリすると思います。この値段でこれ。。。

After a busy day experiencing local activities this was the perfect end. Peaceful and relaxing, lying back and soaking up the warmth of the pools looking at the stars. It certainly eased away the aches of the day

I was very impressed with Polynesian Spa! I had a mud massage and bathing experience, and couldn't have been happier. They have all the special touches, it's laidback, clean, friendly, luxurious, but still beautiful and natural! Shout-out to my massage therapist Melanie, she was an absolute dream and an extremely intuitive and talented therapist, and warm person!

Highly recommend!

Great treatment but couldn’t understand why spa pools were full of smaller children splashing around. I love being around children just not at a spa day.

A little disappointing, it would have been nice to have been educated about how to best use your time and what pools to enhance the health benefits.
Pools where clearly labelled just not sure which ones to use first so we did hottest to cool.
Refreshing and relaxing afternoon with friends.
Clean and tidy.
Staff checking pool temperatures
Shower, toilet and changing facilities clean and tidy.
Good supply of towels, shampoo, soap and conditioner if wanting to use.

This spa is fine in so far as it goes. There are certainly several pools at different temperatures which you can move through as you please. There is no time limit and so spending all day there would be possible if not sensible! The lockers for clothes are pretty basic boxes on open racks, and there are few staff around in general. The pools are well signed so you know the temperature and the acidity levels so you can adjust accordingly. There is some sun protection but many of the pools do not have any shade so it would be easy to get sunburnt.
The café outside was good with nice food but overall not the best despite fabulous views across the lake.

Thanks for the feedback. There are lockers with keys available for securing your belongings, if you were not in the deluxe lake spa area, then these need to be paid for separately. The basic boxes referred to are free and are there for quick and easy access. Our pools are open and natural with the main focus being on visitors being able to see the lake views and not be obscured by rooftops or covers. We do sell hats and sun protection in our spa essentials store for guest convenience and our pools are actively lifeguarded in the Pavilion and Family areas.

Amazing thermal pools. We went at 9am, as soon as they opened. Since we chose the Deluxe option, towels and lockers were provided which was a nice touch. It was calm and quiet. Other guests started trickling a little later. Great experience. The thermal pools are definitely hot enough (sit around 36 to 41 Celsius) but I wish the cold plunge was a little bit colder.

The private hot springs pool with a view of Lake Rotorua was amazing. After 30 minutes there, we still had access to the other pools at different temperatures and pH levels. A wonderful, refreshing and relaxing experience.

Well the spa was fine and relaxing but the service was very average and things felt very commercialised without any personal touch. We felt it was overpriced and there are better activities like hells gate offering a way better experience in Rotorua.

Our team take great pride in offering amazing service to our guests, so it is disappointing to read that you felt it was mediocre on the day of your visit. The Polynesian Spa site dates back to the late 1800s, is heritage-protected and has historic value to Rotorua. If you want to experience a mud bath then Hell's Gate is certainly a fabulous option and equally historic. Our focus is on providing several natural pool options with two types of geothermal spring-sourced waters for our guests to enjoy. There is no time limit and you can spend all day for the entry fee paid. Our site is left as natural as possible with views over Suphur Bay and proximity to the lake being a major drawcard. We do have a range of info boards about the history of geothermal as it pertains to the site which our visitors usually enjoy reading as well as info about the water sources.

We have been to many spas including the blue lagoon in Iceland, geothermal pools, in Iceland, and spas in many locales, so perhaps we are somewhat spoiled. This spa is certainly a pleasant experience and very clean, but nothing special. There are five heated pools where you can soak overlooking lake Rotorua. Also heated chaises to dry off. The lockers are basic. Check-in was easy.
