Wonderful way to see the countryside and learn about NZ's rail history. Nice not having to drive and you can sit back and relax. Has a few places along the way that gives you fantastic views of Lake Rotorua.

How disappointing. We felt totally underwhelmed and ripped off! Very expensive and way too noisy. Advertised as Self Drive but all you can do is apply the brake. There was some mumbled commentary but it was too noisy to hear it. We went along a gorse lined railway track for about 30 minutes then back again.

Very well organized and a lot of fun. They even let me take my little dog 😁 A great way to spend the afternoon and it's something different to do. Would definitely recommend!

Clever use of technology on an old disused railway. Well done to the creators for ingenuity and very well run but to be honest was very expensive and not much to see especially with 2 young children.

We enjoyed the Rail Crusing experience the other day with our elderly mother. The friendly team were great and introduced us to cruiser telling us how simple it is. Then off we went. The car pretty much self drives and you soak up the scenery. There's some neat commentary on the history of the area and the railway. Plus there's some lovely views. Only downside was I couldn’t grab a souvenir cap or similar as they don’t seem to have anything like that. Highly recommended, particularly for kids and those who love rail history.
