18 years to build up whats in Bibleworld and thats what two people has accomplished! Very surprised with the high quality of the displays. If only they were more out there than some of the other "things to do". Learned a lot, very interactive and well thought out and presented. It was really awesome!!!

We weren't quite sure what to expect. Had only seen an ad on the info Rotorua website. What a find! Hubby and I took our 12yr old son and we all loved it. Spent an easy 2 hours there doing each of the rooms. They are laid out in historical order. There are some genuine historical articles to view, not just replicas. There is also a hands on room where you can try musical instruments/toys from the Biblical era, find out what frankincense, myrrh and many other oils smelt like, blow a shofar....
There is an adult size centurion costume and child size armour of God costume to dress up in and you are allowed to take photos.
There is a really good decoding puzzle to do during your visit.
Any one interested in the history of this time would enjoy this museum, I suspect you wouldn't necessarily have to be a Christian but our faith certainly enhanced the experience for us.
We had visited Hobbiton the day before and we all agreed Bibleworld was just as amazing!

We've ben back since my first review and they have quite a bit more space, and have added a number of new and exciting resources. It is still really well -researched and as accurate as they can make it, with something to interest and amuse almost all ages. Limited opening hours but now also free of charge.

My husband and I visited with our three children (age 5, 7 and 6 months) recently (during school holidays). The museum is located upstairs and there are toilets available on the same floor.
The displays are so detailed, so much work has gone into it!
There are lots of child friendly things, our kids loved looking for things in the displays that were on the checklists, and they enjoyed dressing up in the costumes provided.
The "hands on" area is great, our kids loved it. We would have stayed longer but had to get back on the road. We were here for about an hour and a half.

Not sure what to expect when i first walked in, but wow it was great fun. My son and i did the code breaking challange which was a challange. Many static displays and a room with interactive displays. Highly recomended break from the hustle and bustle of the town.

We had a nice time at the museum, it is spread out over a few rooms, each of which has a theme, old testament, The time of Jesus, after Jesus. with some good scale models of what things could have looked like at the time. A few of the models also have a "Where's Wally" type list of things to look for, which kept the youngsters happy.
They also had another couple of rooms that had a mix of interactive activities that was very enjoyable with our children.
Worth the visit if you are interested in Biblical history.

The Rotorua Bibleworld Museum and Discovery Centre offers excellent insight into the long forgotten worlds of the Old and New Testament times. There are genuine artifacts on display as well as replicas of well-known famous pieces. The highlight of the Museum is the hand crafted models, which include an Assyrian/Hebrew battle scene, a model of Jerusalem in Solomon's day, and my personal favourite, a model of Jerusalem in Christ's day. There's also an opportunity to try on Roman armour, and to play some ancient middle eastern musical instruments. The hosts who have been personally responsible for creating many of the Museum's pieces, are very friendly and are available for any questions you have.

While small...about three rooms...it does contain quite a number of interesting artifacts and a number of very impressive models. The kids really enjoyed the interactive parts of the museum and there is even the opportunity to dress as a roman centurion. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth a visit.
