Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a really fun excursion. The guide had a quirky sense of humour and was very funny and informative. The tour takes you to the main lake for some history and then you drive off to 2 others and go for a dip in them. What an experience. Music was played that really was in tune with the moment ie as we’re about to go in the 1st lake the music was the theme from Titanic. Once on the water the guide was knowledgeable about the lake and pointed out the birds that were around.

We had all been given duck whistles to use in case of emergency. I don’t think I ever forget us driving back listening to Sweet Caroline whist all blowing our whistles to the pedestrians.

You have to do this one. Well worth the money.

The tour guide, Josh, was funny and friendly. He told stories and entertained us for two hours of sightseeing that will be memorable.
As a Kiwi travelling in an area I have visited many times, I was enthralled with the facts and folk tales.
The World War II amphibian vehicle was fun and safe.
This is a tour I would recommend to local and international visitors.
Josh brought the landcape and the people of the place alive.
Well done Josh.

We took the longer tour on a very rainy afternoon. We saw 4 lakes, with excellent information about all of them and cruised on three. The scenery was spectacular, I would love to go back when it's sunny to see the difference in the lake colours more clearly.
Good for all ages.
Quick tip - usually I would choose the seat behind the driver for best views. On this vehicle, due to the shape of the bodywork the view from here is limited and you would be better with a seat further back.

On our last day in Rotorua, we decided to go on the Duck Tours. The level of customer service, we received from Rotorua Duck Tours, was absolutely unparalleled, in our experience. From the lovely lady at the booking counter to our fabulous Tour Guide/ Driver / Skipper, (Marcus) we had a truly unforgettable experience, from start to finish. If you want a unique experience, loads of humour & fun & fascinating local info & history , this is an absolute MUST! There's something quite special, about going from driving on roads, to cruising in beautiful lakes, in a DUCK! JUST DO IT! :-D

Driving down a boat ramp and floating on the lake was a weird feeling. Our guide kept up a wonderful commentary full of interesting facts and history and kept us laughing the whole time. Great fun, wasn't sure what to expect but we were entertained and informed by our driver/guide. Drove along peter of main lake in Rotorua then visited 2 other lakes where we drove in and sailed/powered along. Beautiful weather, very calm waters, 'duck call' kazoo type blowers were provided and used a lot much to our amusement and that of the children on board - pretty sure there is the potential for locals to get a tad fed up of this though!

Phenomenal...

Josh was amazing! Fabulous tour in an historic WW2 DUCW. Splendid sights and views from land and water with commentry (and great comedy) from an extremely knowledgeable guide. We loved every moment...
Especially impressed by Josh's attention to detail and full observance of all protocols both as truck driver and skipper. NO chance of cross contamination of weed/catfish between lakes.

He was in no hurry and gave us far more than the advertised time and tour....including a mini city tour.

All I can say is this was a true highlight of our stay in Rotorua and not to be missed.

Josh knows that we will think of him very fondly in the future when we hear Mna mna!

Our Guide Josh kept everyone entertained through the 90+ minutes of the tour and gave a lot of very insightful comments on what we were seeing throughout.

Fun way to see some of the lakes and surrounding tourist areas with a guide who has a good patter although my wife who has English as a second language did struggle to keep up.

All in all a very worthwhile experience.
