We are a beautiful independent bookshop in Rotorua, we are 100% locally owned and operated. We have been a bookshop since 1896 and McLeods Booksellers for the last 80 years. McLeods specialises in books, quality stationery, fountain pens, jigsaws and magazines. We are renowned for our extensive collection of Māori books for children and adults. We pride ourselves on our amazing selection of books and our fantastic old fashioned service. We are a destination bookshop where you will happily spend many hours. Give us a call or email us with any queries we take orders for books (new & old).

This bookshop is fantastic! Exceptional range with all genres. Everything beautifully displayed and easy to find. Lovely service and very helpful staff.

What a lovely bookshop! I was in Rotorua for a weekend conference, and a couple of the events were hosted here (a book launch, and a quiz night). It's a really cool bookshop with plenty of great titles available across a wide range of areas. The staff are knowledgeable - real booklovers themselves - and hugely enthusiastic about storytelling. It's one of those shops that just feels like a wonderful place in which to spend some time browsing and buying. I'll definitely be popping in whenever I'm in Rotorua. My experiences there over a weekend, the staff and the store itself have in fact made it of my favourite bookshops in New Zealand.

My husband needed a book, and I could always use one, so we were happy to find an independent shop, and thrilled that it was so well stocked. A fine array of New Zealand authors and topics, and a selection for every taste, from highbrow to popular. Definitely worth a stop.

Our regular bookshop. So glad a real bookshop still exists in Rotorua. Great range, great staff, great atmosphere.

Best place to get all the myths and legends books. Its so hard to find them anywhere else. I always go back every time I make a trip back home and Im not even from Rotorua!!!

This shop may be tucked away in a smaller city of New Zealand but punches way above its weight as far as bookshops go! People may say I'm bias because I live in that smaller city but bookshops are generally the first place I go to when visiting anywhere in New Zealand and of all the bookshops I've visited McLeods is the best! I've even been to some independent bookstores in the UK and thought no McLeods is still the best. Staff are always helpful and it's easy to tell that they love books. McLeods has a huge and wide collection of books and book-related items. If you're on holiday in Rotorua McLeods is one of the places you must visit

This is a wonderful, independent bookshop, where I've been able to find books that have not been available anywhere else. The staff are knowledgeable people willing to assist. They have a nice selection of children's books in Te Reo Maori, and some very worthwhile books on New Zealand history. I visit this shop every time we visit Rotorua, and stock up!!

This shop if full of books that aren't usually seen in the franchise type book stores. A huge selection of New Zealand books and all nicely laid out for perusing. A highly recommended book store.

They had a really nice collection of children's books in both English and Maori. Spent easily an hour just browsing the shelves. Best bookstore we visited in our trip to New Zealand. Highlight recommended for book lovers.
