Ziplining Forest Experience - The Ultimate Canopy Tour Rotorua

953 reviews
Experience the vibrant New Zealand bush on this unique, thrilling zipline adventure. Get right up into the otherwise-inaccessible canopy of the Bay of Plenty forest, where native birds like tui, robins and plump kereru make their homes, and zip through the native trees to the forest floor. This small-group adventure is a great way to experience New Zealand’s native forests without working up a sweat or waiting in line forever.

It was a nice experience for us because we were almost the only couple there. You can certainly hear the birds chirping and singing, but there is no shower and there were lots of sand flies in the entry end, which is the hottest part of the pool. Plan to go either very early or very late in the day. Otherwise it can be too hot.

Unless you are a local or an afficiendo of this place you probably don't want to go there. It's primitive and raw. We were coping with that until a we spotted a local guy having a bath and shave! Not cool.

These springs are awesome. They are not expensive and the facilities are small and down to earth. However they are the real thing. Beautiful warm, clean water with a gravel bottom at a depth which is deep enough for a good swim but safe for children and you really are swimming in a warm river. My father would apparently visit them forty years ago. They are still great. I am in two minds about admitting this though as they are still a bit of a hidden gem.

We visit here regularly, even in summer months going at 7 am or 7 pm it’s magic, quiet, birds singing, sometimes misty, very rustic, don’t expect artificial props like fancy toilets and sheds, special lighting, basic and very real. The vegetation is the minerals, the water is crystal clear, some locals rub the mud and floating matter on their skin and say it makes it soft. It’s a gem, the Māori custodians are very helpful and we have always found them polite and welcoming. Treat it with respect, it’s a sacred experience

Well worth the beautiful 30 min drive to participate in a truly spiritual experience. My family (11, 14 and my lovely wife) and I were lucky enough to have the springs to ourselves for an hour. Enjoy the silence, embrace the tranquility and immerse yourself in the natural thermal goodness of New Zealand. Kids loved it, family highlight !
