    Wonderful intro to Roto.
We had three days in Rotorua and stayed just around the corner from the wonderful Kuirau Park. Each morning we walked in this extraordinary - and extensive - park. We could walk all the way through it to arrive in Rotorua's CBD for our morning coffee. For us, the park was just so different, which made it all the more exotic and exciting: the ubiquitous smell of sulfur, the steam, the pools of boiling water and bubbly mud. There was even steam coming out of the drains and cracks in the pavement in our walk to the park. The only downside was that some of the timber walkways over the boiling pools were closed off when we visited.

    Geothermal freebie
Once you adjust to the everpresent smell, this free park is an excellent chance to experience the geothermal magic of Rotorua. We parked in a small car park off the main road and wandered through to the main lake. Lots to see and a bonus is the foot bath hot pool where the brave can dangle their aching feet in the warm. Beautiful gardens and lots of green space.

    Free activity in Rotorua
Wandering around this park is free and it’s amazing!! The hot vents are fenced off, so you can’t fall in or anything. Each enclosed area is different, so I’d encourage you to really take a long walk around the site. Half way around, you can detour to Patrick’s bakery on the hill under the hospital for a lovely coffee and a cake before continuing your walk and capping it off with a free hot water foot soak. So much fun. Beaut way to spend a morning.

    Highly recommend this free park!
This park is free and well worth a visit!! If you have the time I'd visit here first and then decide whether you want to see more geysers/geothermal activity and then look at one of the paid tours. Well maintained, clean park, lots of steam pools, a huge one at the end of the park and in the middle a hot spring pool you could dip your feet in. Lots of parking, toilets and a children's playground..

    Stabge and unusual
We enjoyed an afternoon in this beautiful park. It is a rather weird area with thermal pools scattered around the whole park. Most of the area is a traditional urban park but the geothermal sectors make it a very exciting and strange experience.

Giving only 3 because we did the wai-o-tapu and hells gate before so this was nothing compare to those. Now if you only have a day or two in Rotorua yes by all means worth seeing it as it’s very convenient.

This is a lovely free park with free parking close by.
It is a pleasant, easy stroll to see steam coming out of the ground and there are two small pools you can take your shoes off and dip your feet in which is fun. I saw one BBQ and picnic table by the foot baths.

Nice park near the hospital in town. Well worth a walk as their are plenty of geothermal sites free to view. It was surprising and full of interest to us. Plenty of parking and some marked tracks. A foot bath hot pool is available if you like. Well set out.

Great city centre park which is free to walk around. You can dip your feet in the hot dis water or just enjoy seeing the geothermal activity in the hot water pools.

Great little local park offering lots of native information.
If you are on a budget in Rotorua, this is a good pick, including the waimirimiri pools (mineral pools) free to the public.

Surprisingly interesting. Enjoyed our walk through the park. Lots of geothermal features. There’s a large pond with steam billowing everywhere
