The geyser that erupts on time
Dec 2020
The Lady Knox Geyser is near Rotorua. Being Aussies, we had never seen a geyser -- this one even erupted on time! As it turned out, they add detergent so the geyser can perform for the spectators. We were a little disappointed.

Not worth a visit
Dec 2019
I was pretty curious how is geyser erupting every day exactly as 10:15AM and suddenly I found out. It's because of soap put inside by employee.
If I knew I'd not be attending the ceremonial...

Great sight

It's a bit false as the geyser is triggered and there's huge pile of people watching - but there's no other way to guarantee seeing the geyser - so it's worth it. I'd recommend it.

Underwhelming

Lady Knox Geyser erupts at 10:15 AM daily...but not without the help of a park employee who dumps detergent in it. After having seen Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park (USA)...a huge geyser that erupts on schedule, without human assistance... this tiny manipulated eruption was disappointing, to say the least. I'm glad we didn't have to pay a separate fee to see it. However, the rest of the Wai-o-tapu geothermal park was definitely worth the price of admission.

Geyster guaranteed to erupt
Dec 2019
We had never seen a geyser before so we were keen to see the Lady Knox geyser. The geyser was surrounded by sightseers. At the appoined time, a ranger gave s a short tallk, then poured something that appeared to be detergent into the geyser, After about five minutes the geyser erupted on cue. It was quite spectacular, but we felt a bit cheated.

Very disappointed
Mar 2020 • Couples
We got here in plenty of time and sat for around 30 minutes for a 2 minute, badly delivered, presentation. The geyser is not worth the time as it only works with human interference. Definitely go to the main Wai-O-Tapu park as that is amazing.

Great experience
Mar 2020
With well over 100 people sitting to watch the geyser, finally the guide came along and gave us a short talk before pouring a substance into the geyser. After a short while the geyser started to erupt steam and water.

2nd time a disappointment
Mar 2020 • Friends
I have seen the geyser over a decade ago and was quite impressed with the presentation, explanation, stories, and the geyser itself shooting up water quite high. This lasted quite a while....second time around March 2020...The drive from Wai-O-Tapu to the geyser took longer than the geyser's "performance" itself. Sound system wasn't working too so we couldn't hear fr the back. Plus the presentation by the tour guide was definitely not what it used to be.

Overall, quite disappointed in this second visit. Waste of the $$$ I paid just for this "show". Photo attached show how "high" the water went up. I wonder why this time was such a fail?

Calling it an erupting geyser is inaccurate at best
Mar 2020 • Family
We went to the venue a bit puzzled about how they would know that the geyser would erupt between 1015-1030 every day.. apparently they fill the vent with a kind of soap which then bubbles up and gives the appearance of an actual eruption.... very dissapointing and a waste of time :-(
