Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When walking in the downtown area of Bay of Islands (Paihia), it is located right at the boat ferry pier, and carries a wide range of both clothing (Merino) and touristy souvenier items that one can't go home without. Their prices are in line with most retailers, but selection is wide.

We loved this shop. Everyone who worked there was friendly and approachable. There was lots of great merchandise to choose from. The prices were very reasonable and the items were of very good quality. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here.

Paihia attracts visitors from near and far, so bring a wallet if visiting this town. My friends and I returned to this shop several times as there was much to see, from small trinkets to larger clothing items, and we all went home with lighter purses. Staff were helpful and we had no complaints at all.

We visited several gift shops on our trip and this one stood out. Great selection, local artists. Would recommend.

A quaint little gift with a variety of gifts though the staff are not quite up to speed with what they have in store. We asked for a business card holder and apparently they didn’t have one - though there was one at the entrance.

Another great referral from our hosts at Appledore Lodge. I was specifically looking for jade designed and crafted by local Maori artists, and was not disappointed. Yes, there were the usual souvenir/commercial items to choose from. They have a fine selection of hand crafted earrings and pendants made my local artists. I was not disappointed, and found the prices much better than in Auckland. I wish I could remember the name of the woman who helped me, she was most helpful and took a fair amount of time talking about the artists, workmanship, etc to me. They also carry a fine selection of sweaters and other Pure New Zealand type pieces. Other souvenir items were good quality, and I felt, reasonably priced. It's a great "one stop shop".

A very nice gift shop with a wide variety of merchandise in several locations. I bought a men's sweater which I considered to be both high quality and reasonably priced.

This shop right on the harbor in Paihia has a large selection of various souvenirs that you might like to add to your collection of New Zealand collectibles. Do not miss out but take a look

It's unfortunate that Paihia and Auckland are so expensive. The prices to tour in New Zealand are on average 20% more than in the world. The Cabbage Tree Shop is nice shop, with great things - possum, marino, and swedish clothing. But the New Zealnd jewellery and gifts are EXTREMELY expensive compared to market prices. They just take the piss because the cruise boats come in on a short time.

We were impressed with the selection of good quality souvenirs in this shop. In particular the wool and possum fur products. Yes..they are expensive but are a perfect gift for someone special. There was a range of products to suit older travellers, teenagers and young children. The service was excellent and helpful to ensure we found what we wanted.
