A real pearl of a harbour, always something happening, from boats to helicopters to parasailing. Great jetty with restaurant at the end, which overlooks the bay.

A lovely relaxing beautiful harbour to spend a few days in. Boats to the islands are avaiable, and lots of very good restaurants. Also there seems to be a mixture of hobbies such as cycling fishing etc. Thourghly enjoyed my visit.

The harbour is pristine and frames the natural beauty of the Bay of Islands. There are many helpful tourism options located in this pretty harbour. The operators are most friendly. Also lots of delicious food is available close to the harbour.

A really scenic walk. There's a footpath along the road side which makes the walk really easy or the sand if you'd prefer the beach. Around the central hub, the pier area is worth a look.

It is what it is... a tranquil seaside setting surrounded by verdant hills and big sky. There is always something going on - ferries, helicopter, fishing boats, sail boats. And beaches to walk along or go for a swim (best in summer?)

Very clean, area with a few dining restaurants and bars. Buildings all in keeping with tradition, a few tourist shops, booking office, ferry terminal, nice to wander round.

We were here off season. The wharf contains a few good restaurants. It's suitable to explore, but it's small.

You can fly from Auckland to Rotorua. I don't think there are flights from Rotorua to Piahia. There is a bus route, about 8 hrs travel time. We rented a car and drove to Piahia from Auckland to stay a couple of nights... More

Sorry we were not there for New Years Eve - spent it in Auckland. Great fireworks there from the Sky Tower building!
