Prepare to find out about the furry little animals that now call New Zealand home. You can see mounts of the varieties and colors which live nearby. Interestingly enough, they are different from the North American scavingers. The wool coat from these animals is soft and warm like the alphaca. Prices are as good as it gets. They have a... More

This is an important local issue and to inform and educate is a great idea. However the exhibits are, to our mind, limited and the information very amateur and technically limited. It's like somebodiy's "hobby" of collecting a few news articles has got out of hand. Limited logic to the displays, info boards falling down, sound effects bearly working. It... More

Had a good laugh coming in here, very well put together with the little walk through around the back looking at the different possums and finding them in the bushes etc (kids had fun). Then once we had finished with that there was the products which were very well made and great quality.

If you like animals, stay away from this place. If you like to see the 'comedy' of animals being squashed by cars, electrocuted or bashed to death, then this is the place for you. Humane it ain't .

I went here all ready to buy gifts for those back home but there was little special merchandised. The possum/Marino wool is just like I've seen elsewhere at very similar prices. Yes I saw the singing possums and read the exhibit. All I landed up buying were two children's book about a penguin written by a local. It was quite... More

Opossum World is an interesting shop found along the Marina Parade that might be worth a stop for those interested in the history of opossums and how they came to be such a nuisance in New Zealand. As should be obvious, you can purchase a range of souvenirs and other products made opossum fur. At first, we thought this was... More

Found this little place 4 years ago and just couldn't wait to get back to Napier so I could take a friend to see the Singing Possums, oh and the fabulous Possum products available. Took a look at the Possum Museum again too. Well worth a look and its only a little walk from the new museum.
