Nice place

For your typical educational facility, it was nice. Live kiwi was most enlightening (Big sucker). Maybe I lucked out, being off season, but not crowded at all.

We waited for the rain to come while on holidays and it was a great place to visit. We arrived just before the live Penguin show which was fantastic. Not the greatest Aquarium I've been to but good for young kids.

Interesting....but was very concerned about the lone turtle. I have read in a previous reply that the tank he is contained in is actually bigger than it appears. Sadly, this isn't obvious. Plus, the poor turtle looked miserable, just swimming back and forth all the time -no hunting for food, no turtle companionship. The penguins, on the other hand, fare better.Their... More

I was surprised at the amount of sea life was in the main tank. During our trip around only a single shark and stingray swam over us. There was a number of tanks which seemed like they were the home aquarium type. Just a little strange to me.

Thank you for your feedback. Numbers can fluctuate in our main oceanarium, which is 1.5 million litres. Typically there we display Seven Gill, Rig, Carpet and School sharks ranging from less than a metre to almost 3 metres in size. There is also Short Tail Stingray and up to 20 different species of fish More

too cute! must see - not just for kids, go at feeding time for the best view. Oh, and the shark tank is also cool.

Perhaps a little underwhelming as the "National Aquarium of New Zealand" would otherwise come with greater expectations to match the grandeur of a beautiful and fitting building. The map provided was helpful to navigate our way around, the exhibits were informative and I enjoyed seeing a couple of Kiwi too.

We enjoyed our aquarium visit. This place sure knows how to utilise space. Would have been good to plan our visit to line up with the feeding times but it was still worth it. Would definitely recommend the visit.

Went two times in this Aquarium, which has many differents sea animals. Really surprising with is long underwater tunnel that allows people to see Sharks, Stingray and hige Hapukas... A great surprise to see a giant turtle and a dozen of blue penguins. There is also a "land" part with tuataras and kiwis ! Plenty of discoveries to do for... More

$20 an adult I thought was very reasonable.Got there in time to see the penguins being fed, also feeding the fish at 10 o'clock. There is quite a bit to look at fish wise and also kiwi.

Coinciding a visit with one or more of our feeding sessions is a great way to see even more during your time with us. Reef fish feeding is daily at 10am. The penguins are feed daily at 9.30am, 1.30 & 3.30pm, and the sharks are fed at 2pm. Thank you for visiting and commenting. More

We enjoyed the shark feeding. The diver was interactive and the kids enjoyed it. Only downside was the penguin feeding where half the people left because you couldn't see anything.
