Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Easy walk with excellent views. The tide was in when I walked and I was told afterwards that is the best time to do this walk as otherwise the estuary can get a little whiffy. Definitely a pleasant and enjoyable way to spend an hour.

Walking the Ahuriri Estuary is great exercise and a most interesting place with all the birdlife along the way. Easy paths and wooden walkways over the wet areas, dogs welcome but always on a lead please.

Being a fan of circular walks this one suits me down to the ground. It takes about an hour so would be suitable for children. the paths are well marked and the views are great, most of it out in the open. The scenery changes with the seasons.

We spent a very hot few hours walking to , around and from this place and saw virtually nothing whilst there. A few butterflies and the normal bird life but nothing new. It is very hot on a sunny days so take water. I see other people have really enjoyed it but we couldn’t find anything to get excited about, sorry.

This is great to walk around with your family or friends. Beautiful scenery and is close to lots of cafes and restaurants! Watch out for the odd cyclist who can't read and the irresponsible dog owners who let their dogs off their leash....

I was in Napier to do training for an event near the end of the year and I ran past this walk. Later on that day my wife and I decided to walk the estuary walk and we thoroughly enjoyed the views, the wildlife sounds, the beautiful vista's and the tranquil ambiance of the setting. This is now a must do every time we visit Napier as I think it will change with every new tide

The estuary loop takes approximately an hour all the way around. It's a lovely place and an easy walk full of variety. You will traverse boardwalks over the wetlands, gravel tracks, and the historic bridge on Embankment Road. Built in 1917, but now defunct, this road/rail bridge is used by the walkers and cyclists on this track. The bridge had an eerie and beautiful quality in the fading light. I read that its future is currently up in the air (upgrade or demolish). Nature meets the commercial on the Southern side with containers stacked on adjacent sites and some new apartments on Humber street - all this added to the variety. Access is from Humber St or Meeanee Quay.

Hired 4 Paddleboards and a kayak for an hour. $16 per board, $15 per kayak. Easy to find, Pandora Road Ahuriri, across the road from Hawkes Bay Sea foods. Staff excellent. Do suggest ringing and booking in a time over the summer months.

We went for a walk in July as we do most weeks. But there seems to be more bird life we saw a Spoon bills never seen before so that was exciting. Everytime you walk around there you see something different. I do which the NCC would clean it up all the broken trees laying dead. So many people do this walk something.

Nice walk into Napier...beware it's about a 40 minute trip this way but it's fairly interesting with little titbits of information of the area, insect etc....
