    Fantastic hands-on museum
Fantastic hands-on museum. It made feel feel old seeing toys from my childhood in a museum. Don't be put off by assuming the museum is just for kids - all ages will enjoy this place from 2 - 100. For what it is it's amazingly cheap, and is obviously a labour of love for all those who look after the place.

    Awesome experience - highly recommend
A fantastic place for adults and kids alike - so much to see and do! Kids were very interested to see how phones used to work, which was quite amusing. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We will be back 😀

    Great experience
This is a great place I would recommend for you to visit if you come to Wellington. Plan your day very well and come in the morning to give yourself enough time to explore. There is cafes at the sights for you to eat. The difference exhibited sections are amazing. Such an interesting and insightful place to visit with your family.

Very Interactive & So Much Fun. From the minute you arrive there’s something to do or play with.

My 4year old was fully entertained and he thoroughly enjoyed his day there. We would have returned the next day but they’re unfortunately not open on a Sunday.

The Tesslacoil demonstration was fascinating, there are old school phones that actually make calls. Sooooooo much to do there, would recommend 2-3 hours to really explore it all.

This is an amazing museum. Our children loved all of the hands on activities. It was great to be able to touch and play with everything (adults and children). Our biggest disappointment was that half the building is upstairs and not accessible for a wheelchair user (my husband). This was hard as we didn't want to spend too much time upstairs as my husband was downstairs waiting. The children would have loved to have been able to share all of the experience with their Dad rather than just half. It was quite disappointing to be expected to pay full price when only half of the displays were able to be seen (Perhaps adults in wheelchairs could be charged at the child rate and children in wheelchairs could be free??). I really think that being expected to pay full price for something you can't get to is really unfair! There were so many awesome things to see upstairs that he missed out on.

I was looking for something to do to releive my daughter's boredom with the school holidays. I live in Napier and felt it was a travesty that we'd never visited before, so now felt as good a time as any to rectify that.
After we entered, there were so many things to see that the outside didn't really reflect all that was happening inside, or the equipment on display.
After a while, with my daughter's interest rising and asking me many questions about the displays, I was starting to feel rather old as I was able to answer most of her questions on the items there.
The facility proved to be very interesting for both of us, with many of the displays and stands being very child friendly and interactive. This is a really good day out, especially if it's raining, for singles and group trips, and it's held together well by enthusiastic staff who maintain equipment which is operable. Well done to all those involved.

Visited this museum with a group of kids 11-15 and we all loved it. Most of the exhibits were hands on and interactive making it more interesting and fun! The Tesla coil demonstration was fascinating although the ozone irritated my sensitive lungs. The entry fee was very reasonable too. Definitely a must do with kids!

Such a gem. Compact but full of working interactive, historic, educational and fun exhibits and experiences. Highly recommended. Our family really enjoyed it and thought it was a great place to spend a few hours. Great staff - especially Paul (we really hope you can find a connection in Ohio to get the information you are after for your awesome cash register). Really nice gift shop.

This was our third visit to this Centre, this time we brought with us some good friends. We love the hands on Museum, being able to push things and the many memories it brings back. This time I noticed a big difference from our last visit over two years ago.
There is a Manager employed by the Council Sharyn, it is obvious this lady is passionate about the Centre, a much improved Centre. Sharyn has introduced some really good ideas, and they are in the process of making special displays.

Took my grandchildren aged 5 and 8. They had visited previously and had asked if they could go back. My 8 yr old grandson said when he left how much fun it was. They both loved being able to touch most of the exhibits and see all the old machines. There is a limited attractions for the kids in Napier, so this is fantastic. Highly recommend for young and us older ones, great hands on experience.

We had a fabulous morning here with our friends. All nine kids aged 5 to 11 were happy and engaged. The scavenger hunt was fun for those that wanted a challenge but most of us were happy exploring the mostly hands on exhibits for several hours. The staff were friendly, helpfully engaging kids and showing them how things worked, and kind when they needed to direct little ones away from the few exhibits that are only for looking at. Theres toilets but no food or cafe available. A great morning enjoyed by all.

What an amazing place. Not your usual museum, hands on 'play' with all sorts of things. Piano, organ and bells to play tunes on, old style phones to call each other on, a whispering gallery and loads more. Oh and don't forget making lightning with the Tesla coil.

During the walking guided tour this morning in Napier we were told about the Faraday Centre so we visited not quite knowing what to expect.
It was well worth the visit and a shame we did not have longer to explore the entire exhibition.
There are many areas of interest that people of various ages would find fun as it is a hands on kind of place where you can wind, push, pull ,play with all sorts of different items.
To me this was like reliving times at my grandmothers house as so many of the old household items were from this era, bread slicer, wringer washing machine, Singer sewing machines, coal range....whereas my husband enjoyed all the mechanical items.
I doubt whether anyone could visit here and not enjoy a bit of nostalgia.
