Must go to place
Apr 2021
This place is a must go to for all ages. It is a shame that is not pushed more by the I Site. They also need to let folk know that it is a fair walk from Marine Parade, best to drive there. There is plenty for everyone to love - just wish we had more time to see it more slowly. Had to get back for our car parked right in town. Would certainly recommend.

Worth Every Cent

Very Interactive & So Much Fun. From the minute you arrive there’s something to do or play with.

My 4year old was fully entertained and he thoroughly enjoyed his day there. We would have returned the next day but they’re unfortunately not open on a Sunday.

The Tesslacoil demonstration was fascinating, there are old school phones that actually make calls. Sooooooo much to do there, would recommend 2-3 hours to really explore it all.

Hands-on fun
Mar 2021 • Family
Visited this museum with a group of kids 11-15 and we all loved it. Most of the exhibits were hands on and interactive making it more interesting and fun! The Tesla coil demonstration was fascinating although the ozone irritated my sensitive lungs. The entry fee was very reasonable too. Definitely a must do with kids!

Trip down Memory lane
Apr 2021
This was our third visit to this Centre, this time we brought with us some good friends. We love the hands on Museum, being able to push things and the many memories it brings back. This time I noticed a big difference from our last visit over two years ago.
There is a Manager employed by the Council Sharyn, it is obvious this lady is passionate about the Centre, a much improved Centre. Sharyn has introduced some really good ideas, and they are in the process of making special displays.

Trip down memory lane
Jan 2021
Took the grandchildren in the school holidays was equally interesting to us as the children. A must see for young and old. Staff lovely and it is run also with the help of excellent volunteers. So many interactive things for the children to play with. They were fascinated with the old typewriters, telephones etc. Napier City Council has done very well with this amazing place to visit. Very educational as well.

Absolutely fantastic.
So awesome to be able to have some hands on experience.
Especially amazing to be in an original building. These old industrial buildings need to be preserved.

Hands on Fun
Jan 2021
Took my grandchildren aged 5 and 8. They had visited previously and had asked if they could go back. My 8 yr old grandson said when he left how much fun it was. They both loved being able to touch most of the exhibits and see all the old machines. There is a limited attractions for the kids in Napier, so this is fantastic. Highly recommend for young and us older ones, great hands on experience.

Hands on place with a blast from the past
Jan 2021 • Family
Grandparents visiting with 11 year old boy on a hot Hawkes Bay day. After two hours of exploring discovering and learning new stuff he still didn’t want to leave. Made us retirees feel a little old explaining about party lines and making butter but wow this is a must see for everyone. You won’t be sorry

Took my nieces and ended up fascinated myself. Was great to be able to try out so many historical machines. Will be recommending to all our visitors, young and old.

Terrific experience for the kids - and us oldies!
Jan 2021
Took two grandsons to visit - 9 and 12 years old - and both thoroughly enjoyed themselves (without grizzles!). There's so much for them to see and do - and so much nostalgia for us. The volunteers there are extremely friendly and helpful and full of information about the displays and their backgrounds. It's so good we intend donating some of our old treasures for display - seems an ideal place for them to rest. If you have kids it's definitely worth a visit - if you don't have kids it's still worth a visit just to go back in time. Highly recommend
