A disappointing evening.
We were recommend to this tour by friends who had taken it just before Covid.
We were collected from our hotel as arranged and made our menu choices.
There were four of us in the party.
At the first winery we were given two small measures of wine with a description and duly served a starter.
Having been served, no one came to enquire if we had enjoyed our food or had any questions.
From here we were taken to a beauty spot to admire the view/sunset.
Our friends had also been to same spot, but their tour started there with ‘bubbles’ .
We drove to Craggy Range for our main course and once ragain we’re given two small measures of wine.
Despite having given our menu choices at the beginning of the trip we waited so long for our food, that we had drunk the wine before the food arrived. We ended up BUYING A BOTTLE of wine so we had something to drink with our main course.
By the time we arrived at The Mission Restaurant for our dessert the place was empty with the cashier totalling up for the night.Our wine had already been poured into the glasses before we arrived and the description was delivered to three of us before our fourth member returned from the toilet. Our guide Rowan, said he did not want to be a party pooper, but was keen for us to complete this final course, obviously so he could get home. He had had a long day.
This tour cost 340 dollars a head - not to mention the 47.5 dollars a couple for the extra bottle of wine. Yes we tasted six wines and yes we were served a delicious meal but we felt the food service was poor, maybe down to the fact we were in transit as opposed to sitting down to a full meal. Even if you take the cost of the food and wine consumed we felt you could not justify the price. Very poor value for money.
If, as a host, you served the amount of wine we received at each venue, you would be considered very mean. For a good meal - or dinner party - the wine should flow more than it did, to enhance the experience. The good food was let down by the paucity of the wine.
To anyone reading this review considering taking this tour, we would say, choose your restaurant allow yourselves a generous choice of wines and pay for a taxi to and from your venue. Much better value.

Organised a half day private wine tour for friends. Christine our driver made this trip an exceptional experience that everyone enjoyed. Organising was very easy and everything on the day was just perfect. Highly recommend!

This was a highlight of our trip. Rowan was a knowledgeable and enjoyable tour guide. We loved that he gave us so much history (and trivia) about NZ as he drove us around. He even took us to the top of Te Mata right at sunset to show us views of the city and take some pictures. The wineries he choose were delicious and treated us with so much respect. Sometimes when you are part of a tour, the service you receive from the stops is less-than because they have less opportunity to make money from you but this was NOT the case at any of the wineries we visited. We are still talking about the food we ate and the wine we drank!

Excellent food and wines. Knowledge of guide and the waiters and waitresses on pairings and the wines themselves was excellent. Still dreaming of the 3 courses we received - so tasty!

We recently chartered Bay Tours to transport our group of 18 up Te Mata Peak, to a number of local wineries and to lunch. The organization, the bus and the tour itself were all excellent. Moreover, our driver Tim was helpful, well informed and entertaining. Altogether a very enjoyable experience.

Tim was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. We loved the vineyards he chose, they were all really different but equally as lovely. Our group of 11 had a great day out and I would recommend this tour to anyone coming to the Hawkes Bay!

From start to finish this trip was totally excellent.
The driver who picked us up shared his knowledge of the area, and noted points of interest for us.
First course at St Georges winery - light, balanced entree with matching wines - superb.
Then on to the views from the stunning Te Mata Peak. Allowed us to get a better idea of the whole region.
Main course at Craggy Range with very entertaining table service from Jacob (what a gem of information), wines were perfectly matched. Beautiful venue.
Then last but by no means least, dessert at Mission. Lots of changes here and the venue looked stunning. Dessert wine and port to finish.
Yes, we would definately do this trip again. A great way to see the area and sample some of the fabulous food and wine.

Certainly a great way to experience some top quality winery restaurants if you are only in the Bay for a short time.

We recently chartered 2 buses for our staff Christmas function that was being held approx. 35 minutes out of town. Glen, who arranged all the boxing details for us was very easy to work with and responded to queries quickly, tolerated our changes with a smile and was overall very helpful.
Our two drivers Brian and Robbie were very accommodating and great value on the night.
Thanks for all your help, we will no doubt use you again in the future.

The service from Bay Tours was A+!!!
Our driver Tim on Saturday and Sunday was exceptional. His commentary and helpfulness was above and beyond. I highly recommend Bay Tours, and will look forward to using them again.
