I should have read the 'Overpriced and tired" review before we paid our money! This place is the worst escape room we've been to (having done 15+). It's grotty, tired and crap and not worth paying money for. The staff appeared bored and totally uninspired. Despite there being no booking after us our experience was halted after 60 minutes...unlike every other venue where, if needed, we have been able to continue on to a conclusion.

We were a family party of three generations and we all really enjoyed our first escape room experience.
We chose the moderate difficulty room (middle of the three options) and this was a good choice. Our time passed quickly and we thought our room had been well set up.
We will be back!

The staff member showed very little interest in helping us. No enthusiasm and read his information to us from a script. The escape room itself is the worst that we have ever visited. No special effects or impressive props. Quite literally the main part of the escape was a complex word code worthy of a puzzle book. The only prop part of the escape was a book with a hidden box. When we asked for assistance the staff member took a long time to respond, was slow in how he provided information to us and the information was so cryptic his help was of no use. $40 each. Absolute waste of money.

Never done an Escape Room before - chose the beginners level. Found the clues confusing at the beginning, once we got into it we really enjoyed it. Out in 50 mins after 2 clues.

Very disappointing. We have done a few escape rooms before and this does not match up. The clues were too cryptic, and a major clue was missing, so we were unable to solve it and came away a bit "ripped off" Expensive for what we got.

Yup! This is a good’n - and bonus - it’s a bit creepy ;-) … this rustic old prison cell break-out escape room - was cool fun! And the medium was kinda hard :-)
Do the history tour while you’re there. This place is a treasure for Napier. Loved the run down nature of it… it’s got so much history… fascinating.

The prison location certainly adds the right feel for this room. Our room was interesting and challenging but not overly difficult.

We really enjoyed this room. Only being the 2nd room we had ever done got confused as this particular room needed to be solved in a particular order but we managed to complete some sections first which confused the process. It was a very well thought out room. Only issue with ordered clues is that if someone in your group I unable to help with a clue they get bored waiting fir everyone. When there are other tasks to complete it keeps the whole group engaged.

We had our work Christmas party here. Matron Ali was awesome, with fantastic interesting stories she made the whole experience beyond what we expected. The escape room was a reasonable challenge and a fun group activity.
The history was a surprise to many in our group, even though we're locals.
