Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sat within an iconic building is a fantastic wine experience. 2 wine tasting options very reasonably priced give you the chance to learn about the wine of the region; it's variety and it's unique characters. The indoor setting is lovely. Surrounded by barrels and leather sofas you experience the variety the region has to offer
As well as their own wines, they showcase wines that have no public access otherwise. It's expertly delivered but low key. I'm sitting here happily as a single female as the buzz of other visitors grows.
What a great way to round off my Napier exploration day

Fine wine, good atmosphere, good music and helpful knowledgeable staff. The winery is based in an old Art Deco building which is beautiful to look at and has historical significance. Well worth a visit in its own right.

Being regular visitors to Napier, we wanted to try a different winery. Two of us love chardonnay and two don't so wondered how this was going to go down. It was great! Not your usual winery - particularly because it is urban and not surrounded by grape vines - but it was a great experience. The tastings were all Tony Bish chardonnays which are just beautiful. But you could also get a beer tasting platter or buy glasses of other wines so we were all happy. The wine tasting was fabulous value for money; the staff were really knowledgeable; and if you purchased a bottle you got your wine tasting fee deducted (and the wine was so good we just had to buy a bottle). They also serve food but we didn't have any. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here.

Has a tapas menu that is extremely limited, about 8 dishes, from my experience a tapas menu has a lot more on offer, and were way over priced for what we got, 6 small pieces of pork belly for $24. Did have a great wine list that was reasonably priced. Visited on a Sunday lunch time and was very quiet, not the vibrate atmosphere we were expecting and the staff could do some work on their friendliness. The icing on the cake was to be told when we went to pay the was a surcharge to use a credit card! This was not noted on the menus. Credit card fees are a tax deductable cost of business and should not be on charged in this day and age of a cash less society, especially given what they are charging for their tapas!

Nice enough venue with a good choice of wines, as you’d want based on the name alone. However, it is very very expensive. We had the small platter which was nice, but pricey too. The staff tried to provide a good service but seemed very unprepared and poorly trained. I would revisit, because the atmosphere is good, but I’d preload on food and drink.

Wines are great, pricey yes but you get what you pay for. Food and seating could do with improvement. Platters are ok but only just, content could be more varied rather than mainly dips and bread/ crackers. Prawns to blow your head off! It's usually nice to taste the prawns as well! Seating at large tables, not really catering for smaller groups, a bit more intimacy would be good.

We intended going for one hour, but the atmosphere (vinyl music), great wines and the exceptional service we received from Robyn had us stay for 3.5 hours. We ended up eating too and the food was fantastic. Can’t wait to get home to the wines I preferred!

Really enjoyed a late afternoon hour here, it was very quiet so we pretty much had Agathe’s full attention and she was very helpful and knowledgeable in explaining the wine we were tasting but also recommendations on other places to visit and why which is helpful when there are so many spread out across the bay. I enjoyed the Bish Chardonnay but actually enjoyed the guest wines you can taste more. It was good to be able to taste a variety and compare the different styles. The tasting room is lovely and spacious and with an added bonus of being in one of the more famous Art Deco buildings, the old tobacco company.

Rude staff and limited beer selection.
One staff member in particular (curly hair) made our group feel extremely unwelcome, walked away in the middle of me asking her a question and just didn’t seem to care.
Limited beer selection (5 beers to taste).
The place has potential but due to rude staff member I wouldn’t rush back.

If you miss the opening hours of the National Distillery, you can purchase tge products here. Enjoy a G&T. Wine tasting is also available. Near tge cycleway so hiring a bike is recommended. Onky downside is the music is too loud.
