Not wanting to spend hours in the car, we decided to revisit our youth & go to the zoo, so pleased we did !!! We took the advice of the helpful guy at the pay desk & walked anticlockwise around the zoo, which took you to the larger animals first. The set up of the zoo enabled you to be... More

Fun for all the family, well laid out and reasonably priced. Our family all enjoyed themselves, and we will be back.

Perhaps a poorer cousin to the Auckland zoo, but still worth the visit. Rhinos, tiger, giraffes, chimps, and spider monkeys are the 'headline' animals with the usual pigs, zebra, alpacas, etc as well. Worth a day trip but bring your own picnic as the food options aren't good.

Worth a visit ! Great layout that loops around making it easy to see all the animals on show. Large amount of Rhinos, even a baby one. Adorable baby chimpanzee and witnessed one of the chimps coming up to the window interacting with a toddler. Some of the enclosures need updating tho. Helpful & knowledgeable staff through your the zoo.

Good size zoo: not too big, not too small. Nice place to spend time with kids. Quite easy to walk around.

So much work had been done to improve this zoo it is a pleasure to visit. Our 10 year old enjoyed her visit. We spent 3 hours and found it educational and entertaining. The cafe served good food. staff were very informative, friendly and helpful. We will revisit in the future.

Drove down from Auckland to Hamilton to visit the zoo and it definitely did not disappoint. The weather was pretty average with constant rain but even that didn't stop the fun (also because they had ponchos at the entrance for purchase). The zoo is well set out, clean and allowed us to get very close to the animals. Having been... More

Was a fun day out. Was good to be there at feeding time to see animals active. May need some more assistance to make your way around the zoo.

We did enjoy our trip to Hamilton zoo. Overall the animals were well looked after and their living space was good. Slightly disappointed we never got the see the Tiger (maintenance work was going on meaning he was kept off display)

This place used to be good, has gone down hill since new owners took over. Over priced. Food not as good. If your going there, take your own food, you enjoy it better.
