Went with my nephews to visit the Hamilton Zoo. Found it well laid out with a regular array of interesting spiels from the keepers & carers of the different species of animals. They exuded passion for the future of the animals and created awareness of...More

I love the zoo. Didn’t see many animals but it was a stinking hot day so I understand they take shelter from the heat. Nice friendly staff, zoo well maintained and clean.

Lots of delightful animals to view in a beautiful environment. Keeper talks were really informative. Enjoyed learning more about rhinos and giraffe.

If you really want to enjoy watching different animals, forget about Hamilton Zoo and drive another 1 and half hours and visit Auckland Zoo. There is not even a single kiwi bird, lion or elephant in Hamilton Zoo!

As zoos go, Hamilton Zoo is pretty great! Animals all have quite large enclosures -not as large as I'd like to see these gorgeous big animals in, but comparing the size of enclosures to other zoos, it's rather spacious. Definitely a bigger zoo than I...More

Worth a visit. Allow at least 3 hours. The highlights were the keeper talks although they were poorly announced. A whole group of ten people gave up on the Rhino talk because they didn't know where it was being held. No public announcement either. A...More

My partner and I came to visit Hamilton Zoo with my son for the very first time. This zoo has so much to offer for adults and children. The park is definitely suitable for children as it’s properly shaded. The only let down is how...More

Not a huge amount of different animals but an interesting range. Specially the Savannah enclosure. Animals always look content and not just bored. Staff always have time to talk. Food options are a little limited and typical easy and fast food type but not expensive.

We visited the zoo on a hot day so the animals were less than excited to see us but nevertheless he zoo had an impressive lineup of rhinoceroses and other creatures from the Savannah. The zoo is starting to look a bit tired in places...More

Totally agree with all those comments. Twoish hours. Mind you twenty minutes with a kaka parrot on your shoulder sniffing your perfume on your neck, under your chin and down your shirt front just can't be missed. It also... More
