Taitua Arboretum is a 20-hectare (49-acre) tree collection just out of Hamilton City. The Arboretum has several lakes and a good network of walking tracks. It is a popular spot for Sunday afternoon picnics and weekend weddings.

This is a lovely find. Our second year visiting and just as much fun to be found strolling in the cool gardens with lovely birdlife. Bring a picnic - not commercialised so no cafes here. Just good old fashioned free fun.
Have utilised this place for a number of years now, when the children were young walks with the stroller and dog were perfect, now with a dog and big kids we can still enjoy the stroll among the chickens and ducks - Great for runners...More
Me and my wife come here for walks very often, heaps of wild chickens ducks swans etc, such a peaceful awesome place to walk, and not far from town.
bear in mind that there are no shops or anything there so take a picnic lunch.
Lovely walk from Dinsdale in Hamilton. Start off seeing open paddocks with amazing views. Then progress to the shaded woody part, which is a welcome oasis on a hot summers day. Magnificent trees, lots of animal life. Well worth a walk! Recommended highly!
Super place if you want about an hours stroll among native trees, viewing the lakes and just listening to the birds. Some lovely picnic spots and plenty of seats to rest and enjoy .Bathroom at the beginning of your walk and plenty of hens and roosters...More
I’d not be sending tourists here, because on an international scale, the arboretum is average. However, as a local park, and one that is free to visit, it’s a pleasant spot. If you don’t mind the poultry. There are a lot of chooks!
We had a lovely hour strolling through the pathways of this delightful arboretum. The tree specimens were terrific with some gigantic species. The cork trees were amazing to see. Chickens rolling us with the occasional duck added some interest. Plenty of seating along the way....More
If you don't like free ranging chooks then don't go! The chooks are very tame. Some will let you pat them. Lovely wilderness paths for exploring - look for the hidden surprises along the way. Pack a picnic and take time out along the way....More
