Explore an enchanting world of secret gardens. Transport yourself through time and to far-flung corners of the world. Meander through a lush tropical jungle, visit ancient China and indulge yourself in a Renaissance Prince's 16th century garden. Five garden collections have been created to delight the senses, with some garden concepts reaching back 4,000 years. Hamilton Gardens is a conceptual garden based in the Waikato that explores the context, history and meaning of gardens through time, and from around the world. It is internationally recognised for its unique concept and is the Waikato region's most popular tourist destination. Only five minutes drive from Hamilton's CBD, the Gardens is open 7 days a week during daylight hours and entry and parking is free. Access is off SH1, alongside Cobham Drive on the southern side of Hamilton.

We stay in Hamilton and love visiting the garden on our stay. They are beautifully kept with lots of different areas to explore. There are many events that take place so give it a visit.

Another wonderful concept garden open for all to enjoy. The airship looks ready to go and deliver fertiliser and tools as well as helping you prune those high to reach treetops. Always an enjoyable experience in the heart of the #mightywaikato

My second visit to Hamilton in 4 years and this time my daughter just turned four. The garden is by far the most interesting and well designed I have seen in Oceania, considering I am particularly fond of Chinese and Japanese gardens and been there...More

Hamilton is sometimes referred to as an hour from anything of interest. Within an hours drive there is the bubbling mud of Rotorua, glowworm caves at Waitomo, Lake Taupo etc. But Hamilton has something to rival these in Hamilton Gardens. Covering some 54 hectares, the...More

This extensive park houses several specialty gardens in addition to vast rose fields, open lawns, treed areas, and public spaces. Having visited fine gardens all over the world, we were skeptical about descriptions of "world-class" attractions and the like. We were astonished to see how...More

I made my third and fourth visits to this magical place over my two recent trips to town. It is quite rightly one of the attractions to see in New Zealand. The extent and variety of botany on display is mesmerising. The themed gardens are...More
