Explore an enchanting world of secret gardens.

Transport yourself through time and to far-flung corners of the world. Meander through a lush tropical jungle, visit ancient China and indulge yourself in a Renaissance Prince's 16th century garden. Five garden collections have been created to delight the senses, with some garden concepts reaching back 4,000 years.

Hamilton Gardens is a conceptual garden based in the Waikato that explores the context, history and meaning of gardens through time, and from around the world. It is internationally recognised for its unique concept and is the Waikato region's most popular tourist destination.

Only five minutes drive from Hamilton's CBD, the Gardens is open 7 days a week during daylight hours and entry and parking is free. Access is off SH1, alongside Cobham Drive on the southern side of Hamilton.

Never knew this garden existed and had previously lived near by. It is such a great place to bring family to, lovely to walk around, tranquil & so well designed. I can't wait to see the new gardens when I am next in NZ. So lucky to have this beautiful garden to enjoy anytime you wasn't. Well done Hamilton 🤗

This site is constantly being developed and improved. Located between the main highway and the waikato river this an amazing diverse series of formal and unstructured gardens. Runners and walkers will love the trails and paths to explore. A low several hours if you want to see much of it.

This is not your ho-hum botanical garden with just plant specimens. These are true gardens where each one has a theme. Each has it's own little entrance. The gardens range from historic classical examples, to a sustainable garden, to whimsical and futuristic. What makes these gardens unique is that the plantings, their arrangement and colors AND the architecture / art... More

These gardens are just wonderful, splashes of colour interspersed with more formal topiary and water features. Each garden has a different theme and the layout lends itself to a sense of discovery. There is a lot to see here. Even better, it's expanding to include more themed areas, and it's all free. Pay homage to this labour of love tended... More

When it was recommended that we visit the Hamilton Gardens I shrugged it off as maybe something to do if we had a couple spare hours to kill. The name doesn't sound particularly impressive and I don't have any particular interest in gardens. However, after having visited the gardens today I can safely say that my initial impression couldn't have... More

An amazing place to friends with friends and family. A great place to take a picnic, a fantastic, award winning, free activity that should be on anyone's 'Must see' list while in the Waikato

The Hamilton Gardens ARE really something to see even for a non-garden person like myself. The Gardens are divided up into themed gardens like the Oriental Garden. They really portray a sense of oriental flavor. The gift shop offers many nice & unique sorts of gift items. Stop by & be amazed!
