Explore an enchanting world of secret gardens.

Transport yourself through time and to far-flung corners of the world. Meander through a lush tropical jungle, visit ancient China and indulge yourself in a Renaissance Prince's 16th century garden. Five garden collections have been created to delight the senses, with some garden concepts reaching back 4,000 years.

Hamilton Gardens is a conceptual garden based in the Waikato that explores the context, history and meaning of gardens through time, and from around the world. It is internationally recognised for its unique concept and is the Waikato region's most popular tourist destination.

Only five minutes drive from Hamilton's CBD, the Gardens is open 7 days a week during daylight hours and entry and parking is free. Access is off SH1, alongside Cobham Drive on the southern side of Hamilton.

I'm a big fan of the gardens, beautifully designed renditions of gardens from around the world and very tranquil. Doesn't get much better for a free place to visit.

We visited Hamilton Gardens and enjoyed every minute. Our children loved being outdoors in the beautiful spaces that have been created here. We had a picnic overlooking the lake, and enjoyed listening to the Chinese flute player (live) as we explored each garden. The kitchen garden we found particularly inspiring. We would go again.

Well maintained garden which makes you coming more often. Good for photos. I have always had a heavenly feel walking around the garden looking at the beautiful flowers and enjoying the greenery. I love to smell the freshness of green and this place never fails to impress me.

I can always go to garden at different seasons. They have maintained the garden really well. You can spend hours depending on what you want to do. Sit and read, do nothing, picnic or walk around and enjoy lovely art.

A must for everyone to visit. Such a beautiful place, don't forget your camera, sun hat and walking shoes. You can spend hours just wandering through the gardens looking at the many different species of plants and colourful flowers.

This is well worth spending time to visit this garden with many separate theme gardens. It is not well designed but also well maintained. A good outdoor walk alone or with family especially there are limited attractions in Hamilton by foot.

It was raining but we did the tour anyways! And it was great! If you are from the Far East, India, or the Middle East, you may not enjoy some gardens. I particularly loved the Maori garden.

Such beautiful gardens, something for the whole family to enjoy. Remarkable that they aren't charging to enter! Something you don't see a lot of in NZ.
