About
Part of the Kirkpatrick Estate Winery experience must include a visit to our cellar door. Situated on the North facing side of the property, the cellar door garden overlooks the Malbec vineyard and further to the hills bordering the Patutahi Plateau. A fabulous setting for enjoying wine and antipasto in the afternoon sun. The cellar door offers individual wine tastings as well as tours through the winery and vineyard. Wine tastings and Wine Sales throughout the year. Check below for Cellar Door hours. You can visit us any time for a tasting, a glass of wine, an antipasto platter or to replenish your own cellar.

Good winery

The winery was good, just like any other place here. The ambience was also appropriate. Couldn’t complain anything. The host are also warm in interaction.

Great experience

Really great time, lovely views out at the vineyard and mountains. The owner was lovely and interacted with us really well, answering all our questions, but also not overstaying his welcome. Knew when to stay and when to go, timed bringing out the food and wines to taste really well. The tapas was so lovely and was in abundance! Great place to go

Great Place with great wines
Apr 2017 • Family
We visited a few wineries in this area during our long weekend but this one was quite nice. The lady out there (sorry dont know her name) was very good. She was quite helpful and served us well. Great wines. The view of the road and mountains at the back is brilliant.

Nice tasting
Mar 2017 • Couples
Were recommended to visit by another winery. Very nice setting and well presented. We had to wait for a short while as everybody was out working on harvest - no problem as there was a phone and number to contact provided and Janine arrived soon after. We tasted only one white as we are red drinkers by choice, and the reds. Interestingly there were a couple of cleanskins available which is a bit unusual - however one of these was very good and we each bought the odd one as well as a couple of others. The Malbec was really nice and helped to sustain us on our further travels around East Cape. All in all a very pleasant session and a very nice hostess to accompany the experience. Only drawback is the cost of the tasting - we're from Hawkes Bay and a normal tasting costs with the cost being waived on purchase of wine. In this case the extra $2 per taste added a fair sum to our overall cost - even though we collectively bought about 6 bottles - could be something to look at?

I really enjoyed the whole experince. The service was fantastic nothing was a problem. Enjoyed tasting the wines sitting outside in the sun overlooking the vines and the hills. The wines were up there so much so I can't wait to return to buy more as not available where I live. I rate it as one of the best experiences at a winery I have had so relaxing and welcoming.

Best way to spend an afternoon!
Apr 2015 • Couples
We were the only ones there, and I enjoyed tasting several wines, while my husband had a low alcohol beer (he was driving). Great wines and a very friendly host who was great to swap a few stories with. Only regret was we had already eaten - otherwise I would have had some nibbles as well. Will definitely order more wine on-line when I can.

Awesome!

Well worth the time to trip out to this beautiful vineyard. Hosts Janine and Simon were fabulous even though we ended up staying till after closing on a Saturday! Sitting outside we enjoyed some wine and a platter - a unique method in that you choose how big and what you'd like so very individual which was great. Simon took the time to give us the story of the wines and also the label and how it came to be - really interesting.
Go there, it won't disappoint.

Kirkpatrick Estate is a lovely vineyard to while away the afternoon. We enjoyed a tasting, a platter of dips (of which you pick the ones you would like) and the endless views. Janine and Simon were fabulous hosts who made us incredibly welcome. We would certainly recommend a visit if you are in the Gisborne area. It's rustic, delicious and we will certainly be back!
