Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This trip is uniquely New Zealand. It offers everything from flat riding along the beautiful Bay of Plenty with spectacular ocean views to flying down a trail through natural rainforest. Enjoy a traditional Hangi staying in farm houses, cabins on the beachfront with options of spectacular walks. Katrina our guide (owner) is a ball of energy offering lots of options including vehicle back up.

Cycle Gisborne put together an amazing itinerary for us while in Gisborne. We really enjoyed the guided cultural tour of the city with Katrina. The two day ride including the overnight stay at Eastwoodhill Arboretum was brilliant. This included a visit on the second day to Matawhero vineyard with wine tasting and delicious generous platters. On our final day in Gisborne we cycled with Gisborne Railbike Adventure - a very unique experience. Cycle Gisborne are exceptional and go beyond the normal call of duty!

We have just completed the 3 day Rere falls cycle trip with cycle Gisborne, and loved every minute. We did the independent ride, so cycled by ourselves, but our bags were dropped, and our accomodation and meals were all waiting for us, it was like clockwork. Such a simple adventure to arrange. Katrina loves looking after people and sharing the beautiful part of NZ she lives in. We will be back for another one, maybe a bit longer next time :-) Blair & Jules

We rented bikes from Cycle Gisbourne as a family with an 11 and 13 year-old. Katrina was super-responsive and extremely helpful. The bikes were well-maintained Treks and there was good choice of sizes. Katrina gave excellent route advice and we had a brilliant time. Hugely recommend.

We hired e-bikes so we could explore as much as we could in the day. Gisborne is perfect for cycling. Kat gave us great information so we got the most out of our day. Highly recommend seeing Gisborne from a bike.

Once we picked our brochure up from the absolutely terrible Wine Centre, we then proceeded to the address on the Flyer-Which was incorrect. After ringing and getting correct address, we then spent 30 minutes finding that place- Seems it was wet so didnt think anyone would arrive so no sign on road. Building not signposted

Finally found and when I stated that the address was wrong , we got the " Yes we know but it cost a lot of money to print them so we still use them" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hence to say we drove to the vineyards

We were on the Golden Princess last month and stopped in Gisborne for the day. Gisborne Cycle Tours were at the pier with a collection of bikes to rent. Great rates. Maps, helmets, hi-vis vests and a sense of adventure we were off! The bikes were in good condition. No chains were lost and some wineries were visited. 40-45kms later we returned the bikes a bit sunburnt and with tired legs but what a great day. Totally recommend these guys if you want a bike for a couple of hours or all day. Reasonable rates and great service. Thanks for the winery recommendations too!

Must do Gisborne activity! We go out every year with about 5 - 7 male friends; having a good time and enjoying not too strenuous activities and plenty of good wine.
This year we visited Gisborne and asked Katrina to organise a bicycle ride connected to some wine tastings. Katrina was punctual in picking us up in the morning, drove us 35 km to Eastwoodhill where our descent through the country side started and had organised lunch and wine tastings in 3 different wineries. At the end, we didn't feel like cycling to our motel, so we text-ed Katrina who left her family to pick us up and drop us off. We had a very nice time, very well organised and had some excellent wine. Great experience, good value for money and excellent service.

Off the cruise ship then onto a bike for easy riding and sight seeing - We had a great day with an experienced local Historian Sheridan Gundy. Worth doing.

We were spending a day in sunny Gisborne as a stop on our cruise of NZ and wanted some exercise to counterbalance all the excesses of the cruise. Cycle Gisborne offered the perfect solution for us: a private guided bike tour of Gisborne and nearby wineries. It was a busy day for Cycle Gisborne as they were also doing some group tours for our fellow cruise passengers. But having had a previous experience of cycling in a large group (very slow going, and someone inevitably falls off, not having been on a bike for 20 years), we were fortunate to be able to arrange a private tour with Paul — his first for the company, as it happens. Well, we had a blast. We made one or two wrong turns through farmers’ fields but enjoyed the scenery, visiting an historic church before a wine tasting and lunch at the charming Bridge Winery. We then cycled on to a second winery set in stunning scenery before cycling back to Gisborne (about 12kms away in a strong headwind). We’d worked up a thirst on the long hot ride and made a final stop at the wonderful Sunshine Brewery, where we enjoyed a flight of their craft beers. Good thing we didn’t have to cycle too much further to return our bikes near the cruise ship dock. Thanks for an excellent day out, Paul, and thanks for the arrangements, Katrina!
